Description

🎰 Welcome to Z Krewe's High Rollin' 0.5K! 🎰

What happens at the 0.5K... gets posted all over social media!

Grab your lucky charm, put on your best Vegas attire, and join your fellow underachievers for the most prestigious half-kilometer in Texas!

Z Krewe's 6th Annual 0.5K returns on May 2, 2027, at Galveston Bay Brewing in Clear Lake Shores, Texas. This isn't your typical race. There are no elite athletes, no personal records, and absolutely no expectations. Just a whole lot of fun, laughter, questionable athletic decisions, and a great cause.

While we're busy rolling dice, collecting participation medals, and celebrating minimal physical effort, we're also raising money for the Galveston County Food Bank's Kidz Pacz Summer Program. Every dollar raised helps provide meals and snacks to local children during the summer months when school cafeterias are closed.

Packet Pickup and Registration open at 10:30 a.m. The big "race" begins at approximately 12:05 p.m. Vegas-style timing applies!

"RACE" Details:

Let's get one thing straight...

It's a 0.5K.

Not a 5K.

Not a 10K.

Not even a 1K.

Just 1,640-ish feet of pure athletic mediocrity.

This event was created for people who have no interest in going the extra mile and aren't particularly excited about going the first mile either. Whether you're a couch champion, professional procrastinator, recreational snacker, or simply someone who enjoys having fun while supporting a great cause, this is your race.

Along the course you'll encounter Adventure Stations, hydration opportunities, carb-loading stops, and enough entertainment to make you forget you're technically exercising.

No training required!

No experience necessary!

No shame allowed!

Everyone receives a finisher medal because surviving a 0.5K deserves recognition!

"RACE" tips:

  • Get to the starting line early so you can stretch (0.3 miles is nothing to take too lightly)
  • At the halfway point (that's a whopping .1555555 miles in), enjoy an ice cold adult beverage (or Kiddo Beverage for those under the age of 21) to stay hydrated and remember to down some carbs for energy
  • Celebrate crossing the finish line and receive your "Finisher's Medal" with a FINISHER'S BEER (ROOT BEER - for the Kiddos)!

RACE DAY SCHEDULE:

11 am till 2 pm - LIVE MUSIC

10:30 am "ish" - Packet Pick-up/ Registration Station Opens
11:05 am "ish" - Stretching & Warm-up TBD
11:35 am "ish" - Galveston Bay Brewing's Inflate-a-DERBY begins ... and ends 2 minutes later!
12:05 pm "ish" - The BIG 0.5K starts - The test of Endurance Begins!
1:05 pm "ish" - Costume Contest begins!

Safety First!

A possibly staffed, or not staffed at all, First-Aid Station will be in place. You know, JUST IN CASE. The First-Aid Station will be stocked with Band-Aids, alcohol, and chewing gum in case there is an emergency.

Goodies and Fun Stuff!

Let's talk about the GOOD STUFF!!! Your entry fee will get you a bag of swag filled with one of those cool pretentious "Race" Stickers that will say 0.5K, a fabulous T-shirt to prove you were there, and "Finisher Medal" to show off Monday at the office so that everyone can be jealous of your accomplishments! But wait... There's MORE! All Regular & VIP Entry's will also be given a FREE BEER at the Finish Line!
  • IF YOU WANT A T-SHIRT - AND WHO DOESN'T WANT ONE OF THESE BAD BOYS - YOU MUST REGISTER BEFORE APRIL 1st, 2027!!!  REGISTRATIONS AFTER THIS DATE WILL NOT BE GUARANTEED SWAG ITEMS!!!

Regular Old Joe Entry - "Just like a real NO-LYMPIC ATHLETE"

  • All Finishers will receive a pretentious oval Euro-style 0.5K Race Sticker that you can attach to the rear window of your car to show everyone that a true athlete is behind the wheel.
  • T-Shirt, of course!
  • Cinch Bag - To hold all your Goodies!
  • Finisher Medal - everyone gets recognized for their achievements at this event, no matter how bad they are, because we are all about positivity and self-worth!
  • Finish Line Beer - YES! A FREE BEER!!!

VIP UPGRADE - "GO FOR THE GOLD"

Don't feel like running?  Don't think you can make it the full 656 Steps?  Then you should be a VIP! For an additional $30, you don't even have to run!!! How awesome is that?!
Let's be honest - If you have the money to buy your way into doing nothing, then you should be able to. So go ahead and grab that VIP Entry! You deserve it!
In addition to all that Regular Swag (listed above), You will receive:
  • VIP Lanyard
  • More details TBA! (IT WILL BE EPIC!!!)

KIDS 0.5K

This event is for Participants under the age of 21. These ALL-STAR Kiddos will receive a Medal and a Finish Line ROOT BEER once they reach the Finish Line! (Sorry Kids ... No Alcohol for you!) Shirts and other swag items are NOT included with this registration. All kids must have a registered adult (Regular or VIP Participant) with them while on the 0.5K Course. No solo mini-racers allowed!

Virtual Race Option! – “Swag without the effort”.

Can’t make the “Race” – Don’t worry about it! You can participate from the comfort of your couch! Virtual Participants will get a t-shirt, the pretentious oval sticker, and a Finisher Medal just like everyone else so you can brag that you are a finisher of the 0.5K and no one will know any different. Brilliant! (All virtual participant names are stored in an encrypted database certified secure by the NSA and will be held in strict confidence and will never be released to the public. Your secret is safe with us.)

Walk-ups and Procrastinators (over the age of 21)

Walk-up's and all those people that just kept putting off registration until the very last minute will be able to sign up the Morning of the big "RACE"! **Swag will NOT be guaranteed with this registration** You may get a cool cup, or a koozie, or a sweet bag to carry stuff in. You may just get a moon rock... WHO KNOWS!? But what we can tell you is that you will get a chance to conquer all 1,640 feet of Z Krewe's 0.5K and some samples of beers from some AMAZING Local Breweries!
Price for this event will be announced April 30th, 2027.

Sponsorship Opportunities

All the fun stuff aside, we are serious about the end result — to support the Galveston County Food Banks Kidz Pacz Program. The money raised at this event will help provide Kidz in Galveston County weekly snacks and meals during the summer months when School Lunches are not available for them. And we'd really like your help! As a sponsor, your business will be associated with what we believe will be the funniest, coolest, and craziest event of the year. Levels start at $250 and include logo on marketing materials and swag, race entries, volunteer opportunities, and more!
