Unleashed Paws Fur Fun Run & Virtual Run

Make plans and get that tail wagging at the Fur Fun Run, which includes a 5K run/walk, 1-mile pet stroll, and a VIP option. Run, walk and get your pup out walking - you choose the distance. The Unleashed Paws’ Fur Fun Run normally scheduled for Memorial Day weekend is on hold in 2020 due to COVID 19. This paw-triotic run and walk will still happen (eventually) and is a great way for the entire family, friends and our community to enjoy all year long. Even through these 'ruff' times, we can still get to the start line and our goal is to bring the fun to you.

Once live and in person events can open to the public, we will host several Fur Fun Run events where you can come participate in one of the hosted live events (you'll be able to choose one later once dates are announced). Fur Fun Run events may take place between July - December 2020. The events will be limited in number (most likely up to 100 people max), will offer a run/walk 5k or 1 mile (go at your pace, bring your own water) route and will be on a trail with the start/finish at either White Rock Alehouse & Brewery (or another location if needed) and will include your finisher medal at the finish line, pup finisher giveaway (several items will be available for you to choose from), shirt/bib pickup at the start of the event and a post-race celebration with all the same inclusions (two beers or non-alcoholic beverages), food (for purchase), pup pools to cool off your pup, fun giveaways (for humans), and live music too! If you sign up for the VIP option, you will still receive all of the VIP benefits at the live event too. The live events will not be timed, but you will be able to walk or run on your own with the event schedule to be announced once dates, and details are finalized.

Alternately - you can choose to run the event virtually from wherever you are, and on any date, you pick between now and November 30th! We'll host Facebook giveaways each month for those whom participate in the event virtually. Run or walk anywhere and post your photos to the Fur Fun Run Facebook event page! On the last day of each month we'll select a winner. Categories include: best running/walking photo, most 'pawtriotic" and the most fun/zany picture (be creative!). 

Dog Rules: Please read through the rules!

The Unleashed Paws Fur Fun Run is open to humans running with or without dogs. To keep everyone, pups included safe, special rules apply for those running or walking with a dog at a live event. We strongly suggest that both the owner and dog train for the event in advance, especially if they don’t regularly already run or walk.Runners and walkers should start conditioning prior to the event. Inspect your dog’s pads for any sign of injury such as cuts and wear. Be careful in hot or humid weather, carry water, keep runs/walks short, watch your dog for signs of stress. We recommend using trails or other locations where people run/walk with their dogs to acclimate your dog to running in a pack with distractions and other dogs.

• Limit one (1) dog per person. Dogs must be at least six-months-old.
• No dragging of dogs.
• Dogs in any stage of heat are prohibited. Unaltered dogs are also prohibited.
• Leashes Required: All dogs must be on a leash at all times. All dogs should absolutely be kept on a tight and short leash both in the event area and on the running path. Retractable leashes are not allowed at the event; due to the risk it can cause  to other participants and runners.
• Vaccines: All dogs must be  up-to-date on their vaccines.
• Aggressiveness: Aggressive dogs can be a concern for pet lovers and participants who are enjoying a fun, pet-friendly event. It is important for the safety of all participants that every dog is well behaved, can handle crowds and are people and dog friendly. Races and this event can be crowded therefore, all dog owners participating in the race should know their dog well enough to tell if they are starting to get irritable (if they become irritable we ask that you remove the dog from the event immediately). Any such dogs if aggressive or irritable will be removed from the race or the event area to ensure the safety of the other dogs, spectators and runners. 
• Doggie First Aid: There will be water stations and cooling pools at the start finish line only. Be sure to bring extra water for your dog for the course and ensure that they are able to participate in the 5k or 1 mile without becoming physically-stressed. There will be no dog aid stations on the course so it is imperative that if you participate with the run/walk with your dog that are able to do the distance and that you have water for them.
• “Droppings” & Cleaning Up: We understand that nature calls. We ask that every dog owner be prepared to pickup after your dog both on the course and in the event area, thank you!
