Description
On October 22, 2016, Ultra Expeditions is hosting their first annual trail race festival in Farmersville, TX. For the first time in the history of the festival, running events are being combined with the long-standing bike race, The Trick It Up Bike Ride, through the city. It is estimated that over 700 people will ride or run the event. The race distances include a 5k, Half Marathon, Full Marathon and 50k.
The trail races are on the newly converted Chaparral Trail. The trail was used as the railroad right-of-way and now converted to a multi-use trail. The race begins at the historic Onion Shed, a restored building from the 1930s that was once used a loading dock for the onion industry.
The first 2.5 miles of the route is paved and then transitions to a crushed-stone surface for trail running. The route is partially covered under a canopy of trees and beautiful country scenic views that feels remote and forested.
Following the race, runners, sponsors and volunteers are invited to join the fun and enjoy free food, live music and cold beer and beverages at an Oktoberfest festival.
