Brief Description

A loop & out-and-back course, slightly challenging in the 1st half. The 2nd half is mostly flat with an essentially downhill finish. A festive ambiance, with the Juneteenth  Parade nearby. Entry fee is on the low end of N. TX road race fees. Have fun running, walking, strolling… Parking available. An exciting part of the 2013 Juneteenth Celebration in Fort Worth, TX. The Juneteenth Organization, in all 50 states, Celebrates this restoration of human rights and dignity; and Informs on the servitude and suffering which the Emancipation Proclamation sought to end. The 2013 Juneteenth Freedom Fest 5K / 1 Mile Run/Walk will be held at Cobb Park in Fort Worth on June 15, 2013. This will be part of the 2013 Fort Worth and Tarrant County Juneteenth Celebration…. ****

The event is both for cultural purposes and to help raise funds for the Fort Worth African American Museum.****

Awards

Awards in the 5K will be given to 1st Overall male and female finishers, 1st Masters male and female finishers. Top 3 finishers in the following age/gender groups also will be awarded: 6 & Under, 7-8, 9-11, 12-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85 & Over.  All 1 Mile finishers will receive participation ribbons.

Beneficiary

Fun-competitive race in southside Ft Worth. Location: From I-35, exit on Berry St., go east/right, and then turn left on Cobb Dr into Cobb Park.

This will be the inaugural edition of the 5K and 1 Mile at Cobb Park. Complete results from  this year can be found on the Web at www.runningintheusa.com and other sites.

Offline Fees

Mail-in fees are $20 (5K) OR $15 (1 Mile)  if mailed by 6/8/13 (Forms may be obtained by e-mail from jephaa@yahoo.com or http://www.runningintheusa.com/jeph on the Web). Walk-in fees (through 6/14) are $20 (5K) OR $15 (1 Mile) at The RUNNER, 3535 W. Pioneer Pkwy, Arlington TX 76013 (817-461-2281). Race day fees - $25 (5K) OR $20(1 Mile).
