Description
Thank you for your interest in the DFW Metroplex Marathon!
As we all know, the past year has been an incredibly challenging time. Our first and foremost goal with this event is to give you a safe, close-to-home marathon with as low of a risk of cancellation as possible. Of course, we don't have much control over how COVID-19 might impact our ability to go ahead with the event. Local regulations may cause us to need to cancel at last minute. Safety for the runners AND for the community will always be our number one priority. Our goal is to keep these marathons at very low capacity, with COVID regulations in place, in order to keep everyone as safe as possible and mitigate the risk of cancellation to the highest extent possible.
Come run our certified looped course and qualify for races like New York and Boston, or conquer the mighty marathon at your own pace while enjoying a scenic run with elite accommodations. Music while be playing, fun will be had and sweat will be profuse!
Location: Heritage Park Plaza, Fort Worth
Covid Safety Plan
Regardless of local mandates, all participants will be required to wear a mask except for when they are actively participating in the event (that is, once you start running you may remove your mask. If you are not running, you are expected to have a mask on). We highly discourage spectators but if you are planning on bringing a family member or friend, we require them to wear a mask at all times. This is for everyone's safety. If you're not comfortable with wearing a mask, we'd kindly request that you decline to participate.
ALL RUNNERS MUST WEAR A MASK WHILE IN THE STAGING AREA! Failure to do so will result in disqualification. We highly recommend a Buff or something that can be easily pulled down once you're running, so you'll have it on you at the finish as well.
Aid Stations
Runners will be responsible for supplying their own fluid. We recommend bringing one bottle per loop or a series of handhelds to grab over the course of the race.
We will not be handling anyone's personal bottles to avoid an additional touchpoint. We will have tables set up PRIOR to the race-provided water tables for athletes to place their bottles the morning of the race. You are responsible for getting your bottles to the table and setting them up.
There will be corresponding drop bins labeled with your race number to store used bottles so that you do not have to stop at the aid stations or find your bottles along the course after the race. We ask that you use this drop point for all of your waste: bottles, clothing, and fuel packets. We want to leave as minimal a footprint as possible on the trail and these are yours to keep after the race.
Restrooms
There will be port-o-potties on site near the start/finish/parking area.
Deferrals, Transfers and Refunds
There will be no deferrals as we have no idea if we plan to hold this event in 2022
Transfers are not allowed.
Refunds: we will not be processing payment information until 6 weeks prior to the event date. If we need to cancel between that date and 2 weeks prior to the event, we will fully refund your registration fee minus the processing charge. If we need to cancel within 2 weeks of the event date, we will refund 75% of your registration fee minus the processing charge. We hope to avoid this situation at all costs.
Gear Check
There will be no gear check for the race. Anything left behind in the staging area at the start will be disposed of. Please leave all valuables in the car!
As mentioned previously, you will have a drop bin labeled with your race number for anything you wish to dispose of during the race, however, these are not secure so please do not use them to store any valuables.
Time Limit
The official time limit for the race is 5:00 (11:26/mi). We will not sweep any runners from the course, but please be aware if you are finishing in over 5 hours, you may not receive an official finish time or aid on course after the 5 hour mark. The timing company and the aid stations will begin breakdown at 12:25pm.
Packet Pickup
Packet Pickup will be at Frisco Running Company (9359 Legacy Drive, Frisco, TX 75033) March 3rd, 4th, and 5th, 12 PM to 6 PM. There will be no packet pickup on race day.
