UnBound's Light Up the Dark 5k is a fun, family-friendly, "glow-in-the-dark" run to raise money and awareness for UnBound's anti-human trafficking work. This annual event is fun for everyone, whether you enjoy walking or running! Join us at TCU's Student Commons before the run for the Light Up the Dark Party, which will include face paint, bounce houses, music, and more! Walk-in registration will be available on race day beginning at 6pm at the registration tables!

6 p.m. - Light Up The Dark Party with Vendors and Fun Activities
7 p.m. - Kids 1k Begins (This is a non-timed event, but all participants receive a medal!)
7:30 p.m. - Light Up The Dark 5k Begins

Important Message Regarding Kid Registration:  Kids (12 and under) are allowed to participate in the 5k.  If you would like them to receive a t-shirt and bib number, they can register under our Student Rate of $20.  Registration for kids (12 and under) is Free, if they are running without a bib and receiving no t-shirt.

FAQ's

1. Where can I park?

Parking for the race will be available at two locations.

  • Frog Alley Parking Garage. The garage is located at the corner of West Cantey Street and Stadium Drive. 
  • Lot 6. This lot is slightly further down on Stadium Drive, and located between the Amon G. Carter Stadium and the Brown-Lupton University Union/ Campus Commons.

2. Where can I find information on the race day schedule, bib pick-up, where to park, and other race information?

All this information can be found on the race info page. We also will send out an email to registrants a few days before the race with this same information.

2. How do I register for the Light Up the Dark 5K?

Each person will need to register individually and accept the terms of our waiver for the race on our website. Register online.

3. What does my registration fee go toward?

We hope to cover the cost of the event through sponsorships so that your entire registration fee will go directly toward fighting human trafficking in our community. You can also donate and become a fundraiser! www.unboundfortworth.org/give

4. What is your policy regarding minors running the 5K?

People of all ages are invited to participate in the Light Up the Dark 5K! All minors must be accompanied by an adult and have a completed reservation and waiver. Strollers and wheelchairs welcome!

5. What is included in my packet?

Race bib and safety pins, timing chip, event t-shirt, special offers and coupons, and information about UnBound

6. What do I need to bring with me to pick up my packet?

If you have pre-registered, you do not need anything.  If you have not registered, you will need to bring a form of payment.

7. Where does the 5K finish and start?

The 5K begins and ends at TCU's Student Commons. The address for the event is 2901 Stadium Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76129.

8. What time does the 5K start?

Check-in opens at 6pm. The Kids' 1K begins at 7pm and the 5K begins at 7:30pm. We recommend arriving at least 45 minutes before your event start to check in, get your glow gear on, and join in the pre-race fun!

9. Do you offer a bag drop or gear check?

No. Please make sure you leave any belongings or valuables locked in the trunk of your car. UnBound and any other party associated with the Light Up the Dark 5K are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please make sure you check in with plenty of time to return any items to your vehicle.

10. What is your refund policy?

The Light Up the Dark 5K has a no-refund policy. All registration fees go to the fight against human trafficking in our community.

11. Where will 5K results be posted?

Time results for the 5K are recorded at the finish line and are available at the race or online after the event.

12. Will you be giving out awards?

Awards will be given to the top finishers in several categories.

13. What is your event cancellation policy?

If we feel it is unsafe to proceed with the event for any reason, inclement weather or otherwise, the run directors reserve the right to cancel the run. The directors will send out a cancellation email, as well as posting on the website and social media. If the event is not cancelled, each participant should make his/her own personal decision about whether he or she feels it is safe to participate. There are no refunds for the event. All registration fees will go toward the work of UnBound Fort Worth.

14. What if I lose something at the race?

There will be a lost and found at the UnBound info table. All items unclaimed will be returned to the UnBound Fort Worth office (5049 Trail Lake Dr., Suite 105 76133). If you have questions about items after the run, please contact us at fortworth@unboundnow.org. We will donate all items left unclaimed a week after the run to a local shelter.

15. Can I still get a t-shirt if I can't make it to the event?

T-shirts are only available to registered participants. If you are unable to make it to the event, you can register as a Virtual Runner and have the t-shirt shipped to you after the race.  Registered participants who were unable to attend the event or those that would like to purchase a t-shirt can schedule a time to pick one up at the UnBound Fort Worth office through October 31.
