Description

Overview
The Panaracer International Grand Prix of Gravel is a unique virtual challenge for cyclists of all levels. It features over $4,000 in cash, prizes and giveaways available to all participants! Riders will have over 90 days to accumulate as much mileage as they can. The more miles you accumulate, the more giveaways you earn as well as more opportunities to win the prizes. Additional bonuses can be earned based on achievement criteria which will be unlocked throughout the event. Achievement bonuses will be based on numerous measures ranging from segment time, average speed, elevation gain or even subjective qualifiers like best social media images. In short, there will be plenty of opportunity to win. Yes, there will be an overall ranking/leaderboard based on fastest cumulative time to go the furthest distance and the leaders in those categories (tbd) will be eligible for additional bonuses. This means that although everyone who meets the minimum mileage objective of 100 miles is eligible to win all of the prizes, those who complete the most miles in the fastest times will accumulate additional opportunities to win the cash and prizes.

How Does it Work?
Riders can accumulate miles/times any time between 8/29/20 and 12/6/20. Any type of "real world" riding will unlock mileage achievements. Sorry, this is not meant for miles accumulated indoors on trainers, simulators, etc. Smart trainer/spin bike/static ride entries can log mileage and qualify for the gift pack which will be available to all participants. Only real world attempts qualify for achievement bonuses and prizes.

Riders will log their total time and mileage for each ride they complete within the specified time frame. For activities and their results to be eligible for achievement bonuses the participant must make their activity logs available to the public via Strava or/and Ride With GPS (we prefer both). There will not be any exceptions made to this requirement. Yes, you can ride and log miles without providing access to your data but you will not be able to unlock achievement bonuses.

This is meant to be a virtual gravel event so we highly encourage riders to accumulate as much mileage/time via gravel routes as possible. We recognize that this might not be practical for all participants so riders are welcome to log mileage/time from rides of any kind. We will be providing suggested and approved gravel routes for all areas of the USA. Additional routes will be provided throughout event as they are verified. Please note the logging schedule for different types of riding:

Gravel routes: Actual mileage and total activity time (not just moving time)
Pavement routes: Actual mileage *.85 and total activity time (this gives a 15% mileage reduction to "equalize" to gravel miles
MTB routes (trails only): Actual mileage * 1.15 and total activity time (this gives a 15% mileage bonus to "equalize" to gravel miles
Static routes: Actual mileage * .50 and total activity time (this gives a 50% reduction to mileage)

It is the riders' responsibility to properly log their achievements. Again, rider data must be publicly available via Strava or/and Ride With GPS to qualify for bonuses.

Bonus Levels

What is Club Spinistry and Why Should I join?
The Spinistry has been putting on gravel and other cycling endurance events since January, 2010. We became dedicated, full time event/race promoters in late 2013. We put on numerous events (20+) each year throughout Texas as well as Arkansas, Oklahmoa, New Mexico and Colorado. We are in the process of verifying a coast coast (Florida to California) adventure route made up primarily of dirt and gravel roads. The plan was to have that route finalized fall of 2020 but Covid 19 issues have put those plans on hold. It is not the appropriate time to be travelling all over the USA visiting every small town along the way.

Prior to Covid 19 the primary benefit of membership was discounts on our races and events. Basically, people who planned to attend more than one or two of our events each year would likely benefit from joining the club. There are additional features like partner discounts, member only rides/events as well as a pretty extensive library of gravel routes throughout the USA.

Obviously our traditional, mass start, large public events are not appropriate in these times. We will start those back up when it is appropriate but we are not rushing that process. Participant safety is one of our top focal points. Our expectation is that club membership will be our primary revenue stream for some time. We've crunched the numbers, tightened our belts and figured out the math for that to work at least on a temporary basis. In turn, we aren't looking for charity...we fully realize that we need to bring value to the table to earn your support.

Building value will be an ongoing process but we already have numerous pieces in place which we think already establish that. We will definitely be adding significantly more pieces over time.

1. Current combined value of Panaracer International Grand Prix of Gravel and Club membership is a great value by itself
2. Access to our existing library of vetted routes as well as customized routes on request
3. Free member only rides/smaller events with proper social distancing/virus safety protocols
4. Free 2020 RAT 1000 (1000 mile Ride/Race Across Texas) and Mini RAT entry.
5. Partner discounts on cycling and adventure gear
6. Planning/itineraries for individualized adventures which can include non riding family members/friends.
More coming soon, stay tuned

We are not begging or asking for charity but we truly would welcome everyone's support if at all possible. Please share and recruit everyone you know who might benefit and appreciate this kind of event as well as what Club Spinistry is all about. Our guarantee is that as virus restrictions ease we will visit every area/region of the USA with at least 50 club members to host an adventure/gravel event at no additional charge to Club members. Your support is tremendously appreciated!
