Support the Arts!
The coronavirus pandemic has dealt a huge blow to the arts sector as a whole. Many of our arts professionals have been out of work for months, and without additional funding sources, we may see a mass exodus out of the creative industry.
For the safety of all our runners and interactive arts partners, this year's Frisco Arts Walk and Run is completely virtual, culminating with an all-day, online Finisher's Fest celebration on October 3rd, 2020. The Finisher's Fest will include performances by our local musicians, dancers, vocalists, and even an online art sale by our community's visual artists. Funds raised from the Virtual Frisco Arts Walk and Run will go towards an Emergency Relief Artists Fund, Arts Organization Grants, and Youth Scholarships to help sustain the arts sector through this crisis and beyond. Frisco Arts believes that the arts are essential to rebuild, inspire, and bring communities together. It is more important than ever to make sure that the arts stay alive, and we need your help!
How It Works:
1) REGISTER for the 5K with a friend or a team.
Our goal is 2,020 runners and walkers for the ARTS! The team with the most participants will get a complimentary holiday piano concert by FAF Board Chair Tammy Meinershagen and other special guests.
2) GO to Frisco Running Company between Sep. 1- Oct. 3.
You’ll pick up your custom race bib, medal, and original artist postcard. If you opt for the virtual run with shipping method, you will receive your goodies in the mail instead.
3) RUN OR WALK a 5K (3.1 miles) on the course of your choosing. For those who want to stay in the sanctum of your own home, you can even do a treadmill 5K*
For those not used to tracking their activities, Strava or MapMyRun are excellent free phone apps.
*In order to be considered for top prizes, submit your time and run map via a screenshot of the activity to email@example.com . Treadmill runners are not eligible for top prizes.
4) POST a photo of you in your bib, medal, crossing a homemade finish line, etc.
Make it fun! Use #VirtualArts5K for a chance to be featured on our social media channels. We want to collect pictures from all over the country!
5) TUNE IN on October 3rd at Frisco Arts Foundation on Facebook for the all-day arts celebration featuring performances by our local talent.
We’ll also host an online art sale of work by local artists, benefiting our Emergency Relief Artists Fund, grants and scholarships. We will be announcing the art sale and race winners at 3PM CST!
All finishers will receive and custom arts-themed medal!
Special glass art awards will be given to the overall male and female, masters (40+) male and female. Each of the category winners will be mailed a unique art print from a local artist.
All winners will receive unique artwork by a local artist.
