Answers to your questions about the virtual run:

How will the virtual run work?

With this virtual run, you can complete the 5K or 1K in a location of your choice anytime on Saturday, October 17. We'll ask you to upload your times so we can keep track and recognize our top finishers. If you need ideas for places to run, stay tuned for a list of some of our favorite routes in the city.

Do I still need to register?

Yes! We need your registration so we can keep track of who is running which race distance and so you can receive your t-shirt and goody bag.

How does running a virtual run support your mission?

Now more than ever, we are in need of funds to continue our work of helping abused children in our community. Every registration makes a difference in allowing us to continue to speak up for Houston's littlest victims.

What about the annual costume contest?

We still want to see your best superhero gear! Suit up to run by yourself or with your family and friends, and stay tuned for instructions on how to participate in our social media costume contest!

Child Advocates recruits, trains and supports volunteers who provide a voice for abused and neglected children in the Houston area. As Harris County’s Court Appointed Advocates (CASA) program, we provide lifesaving advocacy that helps children exit foster care to a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible.
Our advocates provide the judges with recommendations about where the children they help should live permanently. Throughout the case, our advocates maintain contact with everyone involved in the children’s lives; from foster parents, biological parents, therapists, Child Protective Services caseworkers and attorneys. They make sure the children are receiving the medical and psychological help they need.
Advocates dry tears, give hugs, and occasionally throw birthday parties, too. Most importantly, they serve as a ‘constant’ person for the children to count on during a very difficult time.
Essentially, our volunteers do whatever it takes to ensure that the needs of the children are being met while they are in care.
