Description

Join Us for BoomX Generational Health's Inaugural Juneteenth 5K Run/Walk!

Mark your calendars for Sunday, June 22, 2025, as we lace up for the BoomX Generational Health’s Juneteenth 5K Run/Walk in Houston! This event is more than a race—it’s a celebration of freedom, resilience, and health within the African-American community.

Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, first celebrated in Texas when news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached Galveston on June 19, 1865. As we honor this historic milestone, we also recognize the need to foster health and wellness in our communities today.
According to the CDC, African Americans face higher rates of chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease compared to other groups. Physical activity, like walking or running, is a proven method to lower these risks and improve both physical and mental health. However, fewer than 25% of Black adults
meet recommended activity levels due to systemic barriers such as access and awareness. This is where BoomX Generational Health steps in.

Our Juneteenth 5K aims to promote movement, awareness, and empowerment, providing a fun and accessible way to encourage healthy lifestyles. With additional features like on-site wellness checks, health education booths, and family-friendly activities, this event will inspire participants to take charge of their
well-being while uniting generations.

Let’s celebrate freedom by fostering fitness! Join us as we walk, run, and thrive together for a healthier future. Registration includes a finisher medal and an event t-shirt. Sign up today and take the first step toward health, history, and community pride!

A portion of the proceeds will go to the 501(c)3 organization, The African American Health Coalition of the Metropolitan Houston www.afahchouston.org
