The Heart of the House is a family-friendly USATF-Certified competitive 5K and non-competitive 1 Miler. Registered participants receive a race shirt, medal, swag bag. After the run, join us at Sam Houston Park for the After Party. Take a selfie with Santa, create awesome crafts, play fun games, refuel with delicious food and drinks, and see if you won an award!

6:30 a.m. - Walk-up Registration Begins

WHY WE RUN: To support families with children receiving care in the Medical Center for a serious illness or injury. We provide a home away from home for these families. 

Founded in 1978, the mission of RMHC Greater Houston  is to offer a home away from home providing care, compassion, and hope to families with seriously ill children being treated in Texas Medical Center member institutions. The House provides a place to find rest and respite, activities, meals, and snacks for our families, at no cost.

We serve children and families at four locations:

• Holcombe House - 70 Bedrooms

• Texas Children's Hospital - 19 Bedrooms

• Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital - 20 Bedrooms

• MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital - 2 Bedrooms

In addition to our Houses, RMHC Greater Houston also has a CareMobile that goes to local communities to provide immunizations and well checks for school aged children.

• 100% of the proceeds benefit the children and families of RMHC Greater Houston.

• Up to $50,000 will be generously matched, dollar for dollar, by the Trafigura Foundation!
