Race Description
Join the traditional march to the Bluff Schuetzenverein grounds in the third annual Bluff 5K Spasslauf (Fun Run)! "March to the Bluff" - a point-to-point run from downtown La Grange to the top of Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill State Historic Sites on the bluff before the kickoff of the Bluff SchuetzenFest.
Calling all runners! Join us for the third annual Bluff Spasslauf on the morning of Bluff SchuetzenFest. Prizes for 1st place Adult and Youth, Best German (SchuetzenFest) Costume, and beer stein holding.

2026 Event Information
Parking and Shuttle
Please park at Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill State Historic Sites (414 State Loop 92, La Grange, TX 78945) by 7:45 am. This is the finish line area, participants will be shuttled to the start line at the KofC Hall in La Grange to run back. Family and spectators are welcome to wait at the finish line area for thier runners to finish. Shuttles will run from 7:00 am to 7:45 am and carry participants from the historic sites to KofC Hall. The last shuttle will leave the historic sites at 7:45 am sharp. If you miss this shuttle, drive directly to the start line and park at KofC Hall, but you'll need to make your own arrangements to retrieve your vehicle after the fun run.
The race starts at 8:00 am sharp.
Packet Pickup (race morning only, at start line)
Check-in opens at 7:00 am. You will pick up your running bibs there at check-in.
The Course
The run is approximately 5 kilometers with various terrains (mix of road and gravel) and elevation gain — easy to moderate difficulty, with the most notable elevation near the Frisch Auf Country Club. Follow the signage and flags into the historic sites to the finish line at the Bluff.
Note that the first mile is on the shoulder and sidewalk of a busy road facing traffic, please keep an eye out for traffic and stay to the furthestmost left throughout the race.
At 0.8mi, make a left on Country Club Drive.
At 1.14mi, make a left on River Drive (gravel)
At 2.7mi, make a left on Park Drive, congrats on making it to the top!
Once you reach the park you will be directed through the entry gate and follow the flagging to the finish line - run through the arch.

A reception tent will be at the finish line to celebrate your accomplishment, courtesy of HT Fitness. Your T-shirts, medals, and finishing swag bags will also be available for pickup at the finish line.
- "German Best Dressed" — Run in your finest German attire to be named the Best Dressed at the ceremonies.
- "Hold My Beer" — Fill your commemorative stein at the starting line and run to the finish. Can you make it to the Bluff without spilling a drop?
