Description

6/17/20 UPDATE: REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.  NO WAIT LISTS. THERE WILL BE NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION.  REGISTRATION IS LIMITED TO 200 PARTICIPANTS.  The Toughest 10K in Texas 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run is now an official race in the 2020 Centex Race Series!  Runners will receive points in the Centex Race Series. This race is NOT virtual.  Centex Race Series points will be awarded for both the 5K and for the 10K.

This race is in its 40th year and is a favorite amongst many competitors. Runners come from all over the United States to attend this race held during the Annual Lampasas Spring Ho Festival and appreciate the challenge the course provides. Hosted by the Lampasas Chamber of Commerce, the proceeds from this race get put back into the community. Please view our Participant Guide for additional information:  To be released and e-mailed to participants in July.

Hancock Park Pavillion Parking lot CLOSES AT 6:30AM and will be closed until 9AM.  This is for the safety of our participants.  If you arrive after 6:30AM, please park in nearby lots along HWY 281 or at the golf course.

RACE START

The start line wait area will extend onto the golf course.  Please space yourself so that you are distanced from other runners.  This space allows for participants to wait to cross the start line away from crowds.

We ask that runners cross the start line based on their race day distance.

We will make the following announcements:  We will ask 10K Participants to approach the start line and cross at 7AM to begin the event.  Runners may distance themselves and their time will not start until they (and their race bib) cross the timing mat/start line.  We will then ask 5K runners to approach the start line area at 7:02AM, followed by the 1 Mile Fun Run participants at 7:04AM.  This procedure will ensure spacing once participants start running.

We highly encourage participants to stay in their cars until it is their start time.

SPECTATORS

We discourage spectators for this event since runners travel nationwide to attend this race.  The smaller number of attendees will allow us to maintain social distancing guidelines easier. Only  participants will be allowed in the following areas:  start/finish line, packet-pickup, post race refreshment stations, awards pick up and photo backdrop.

POST RACE

Sanitizing stations will be available once you cross the finish line.  We ask that you properly sanitize your hands before visiting the post race snack tables.   We will offer widely spaced out bananas and bottled water post race.  However, we encourage you to bring your favorite post-race snack to enjoy after you cross the finish line!

FINISH LINE

Racers tend to want to STOP at the end of a race but we ask that you continue moving to limit pile-ups and gathering in the finish line area.  We will offer free finish photos at the photo backdrop.  Please grab your post race snack/water and visit our photo backdrop to capture race day memories.  Our photographer will be in a marked off area.  Please respect the space and do not cross the boundary.  Photos will be uploaded to Facbook within 48 hours.

After completing your run and crossing the finish line, you must continue moving towards the exit of the finish area.  Participants will be required to leave the finish line area and proceed immediately to their vehicle as soon as they complete their race.  No congregating of any type will be permitted either before, during, or after the event.

WATER STATIONS

We encourage participants to bring and carry their own water via bottle, hydration belt, or hydration pack.  However, we will provide widely spaced out bottled water at each water stop along the course so that you can grab them without touching additional bottles.  This water will NOT be placed in ice or cold.  We will NOT be providing sports drinks.
