Event Details
When: Sunday, May 26, 2024
Where: Comanche Park 2600 Rigsby Ave, San Antonio, TX 78222
Time: The gate opens at 6 AM: Opening Ceremonies will start at 7:20 AM. First race (Kids 400m) starts at 7:30. The 5k starts right after the kids run along with the 25k Relay.
Late Registration only at packet pick up. No Race day registration.. Registration entry fee at Packet Pickup is $45 per runner 5k and 5k Relay individual for the 25K $80
Runner’s Staging Area: Runners will warm up (prior to their baton exchange) anywhere but the race course. Teams are encouraged to stay together before, during and after the race to avoid confusion at the start, for the handoffs and for the awards ceremony. It is the Captain's responsibility to maintain team integrity for all functions.
The Race: All races will start and finish on the finish line area at Comanche park. The Kids Fun Run and the 5k may be walked or run. 25k Relay, because of time constraints, is for runners only although some walking is permitted there is 4 hour time limit.
Audience: Free food, Kiolbassa sausage being cooked by beard vs beans, shiner beer sponsoring adult drinks for those of age No charge for general admission. No charge for parking. Entertainment by DJ Paul
Registration: See Fees page
Relay Alternates: Alternates are allowed to replace registered runners who cannot participate. They must have the bib number in hand of the person they are replacing in order to get into the race without an entry fee. Go to the registration table and sign in to make the name change. Alternates without bib numbers in hand must pay $45 at the registration table.
On race day, alternates who have paid their entry fee will be allowed to join other teams needing a runner at the meet or join other alternates also looking for a team. Runners without teams will run the 5k solo.

DIVISIONS
The American Hero 25k Relay Event is made up of four EVENTS:
1. The 25k Relay Divisions are for runners
2. The 10k Run Divisions are for runners
3. The 5k Run/Walk Divisions are for runners and walkers
4. The 400 meter Kids 12 and Under Divisions are for runners and walkers
All Relay teams must consist of 5 members.
A team member may compete in only one team and perform one leg only.
No one may compete in more than one event.

Parents may accompany small children in the 400m at no cost. Only the child has to register. Only the child receives any awards.
Special Circumstances
Escorts for blind or disabled contestants do not have to pay entry fee. The contestant's entry fee will cover both. Both get T-shirts and medals.

Is the course certified?
We are looking into certifying the course with USATF
Can I run in more than one race?
Runners will only be to participate in one event at a time. You will either be registered for the 5k or 25K event or relay. For award purposes you will only be able to win one medal
What if it rains? Will the event be canceled?
No. We're hard core like that. Just imagine running through the snow, and dig deep. You can do it! If it is lightening we will wait till it's over and then run.
Will there be food and refreshments?
Yes! And it's FREE, catered for everyone registered for the event.
Can I bring my family or friends if they're not participating?
Yes! The more the merrier. We just ask for them to wear a mask please keep distance from all the other runnes

Can I change to another event?
You can change to another event online by going to your registration. However, Yes! Try to arrive as early as possible, so you don't miss your starting time. We recommend arriving at 6 am. if you need to change something on the last day. We recommend that you make the change at packet pickup
How much does it cost if I register at Packet Pickup or at the event?

We are only accepting online registrations. If you need help registering please contact us.
Can we register as a team?
Yes you can register the entire team or individually. If you register individually the first team member must set up a password and team name. That monthly fee applies.
Do we have the 5k Wheelchair/Jogging Stroller/Baby Stroller Division?

What is a Buddy in the 5k?
This is a person 18 or older who will run/walk the 5k with an elementary or middle school participant. Both the runner/walker and Buddy pay must register and pay entry fee. Both runner/walker & Buddy get a t-shirt, medal, free food and goody bag.
Do all elementary/middle school participants need a Buddy in the 5k?
No, if the parents feel the child has enough conditioning/running experience to safely participate in the 5k then they do not need a Buddy.
At what age do minors need a parent to sign the registration?
Parent or Guardian must sign if a team member is a minor (17 years of age and under as of 22 Nov 2020).

yes we are only about 15 minutes from the downtown San Antonio Area
