About the Coconut 5k

Welcome to the 5th Annual Coconut 5K Run/Walk, hosted by St. Mary's Indian Orthodox Church right here in San Antonio.

We started this race in 2022 as a small neighborhood run, and it caught on. By 2023 we had 275 people on the course; in 2024 we crossed 350. Every year the start line gets a little more crowded, the taco line gets a little longer, and the whole morning feels a bit more like a block party that happens to have a 5K attached.

Run it, walk it, push a stroller, bring the kids — nobody's making you sprint. Everyone who crosses the finish line gets a medal, cold coconut water, and a taco to refuel.

This Year's Cause: VFW Auxiliary

We're proud to support the VFW Auxiliary Post #7108

This year we're running for the VFW Auxiliary Post #7108!

Founded in 1914, the VFW Auxiliary is one of the oldest veterans' service organizations in the country. Its members — relatives of those who served overseas — put in millions of volunteer hours every year: working in VA hospitals, funding student scholarships, supporting military families, and advocating for the people who served. Nearly half a million members carry that work across the country.

A portion of every registration and sponsorship this year goes to support that mission close to home. When you sign up, you're helping [confirm local Auxiliary name / VFW Post #7108] keep showing up for the veterans and families who count on them.
