After 43 years of providing services to the communities of Erath, Johnson, Hood, Palo Pinto, Parker and Somerville Counties, STAR Council will no longer be providing Prevention Program Services within the community or within the schools. This abrupt change, effective September 9, 2024, is due to our state funding being denied for fiscal year 2025 by Health and Human Service Commission.
STAR Council wants to thank everyone who has supported our mission of building a substance-free lifestyle within our communities! We cannot fully express our deep gratitude for your support.
Due to this, the Suicide Awareness 5K planned for Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Stephenville City Park is cancelled.

STAR Council will be hosting its annual Suicide Awareness 5K Walk/run. Suicide is a serious public health problem that can have lasting harmful effects on individuals, families, and communities. Join us and our community partners in promoting The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Crisis & Lifeline 988. 988 provides 24/7 free and confidential support for people in destress and crisis resources for you and your loved ones. Join us on our mission to bring about suicide awareness and prevention.
