The “Run with Purpose 5K” was created in loving memory of a remarkable man whose life was rooted in family, movement, and purpose.

My father, Marcos Rocha, was an active man throughout his life.  He played soccer for many years and continued running well into his 40s, often running laps and tackling the hills at Coleman Lake.  

After his sudden passing, I found myself questioning many things and struggling to learn how to live without him. Grief can be overwhelming, but through the struggle, I knew I couldn't let it consume me.

So, I remembered my father.

If he could, why couldn’t I?

So I ran.

I ran to remember his strength. 

I ran to celebrate his life.

I ran for the people who still need me in this life.

And overall I ran to remind myself that everyday is a gift.  

As his first anniversary approaches, I’ve been searching for a way to honor him. Not only for the life he lived, but for the example he left behind.

Through the memories that approach I realized I didn’t want to walk through these difficult days alone. I wanted to create something that would allow our community to come alongside my family.  To embrace us, support us, and help carry us through this milestone.

You don’t have to know my father to be part of his legacy.
