Frequently Asked Questions
This is a conventional Last Man Standing event using Lazarus Lake’s rules:
- Course is 4 miles 880 feet in length.
- Starting Corral will be measured to fit entire starting field and will remain the same size throughout the event. You MUST be in the starting corral at the starting horn/bell each hour. No Exceptions.
- Each loop starts precisely 1 hour after the last. A warning whistle will sound at 3, 2, and 1 minutes prior to the start of each loop. (All competitors must start at the horn/bell, no late starts)
- Except for restrooms, competitor may not leave the course until each loop is completed. No other people (non-competitors) are allowed on the course (including eliminated runners)
- Once the horn/bell sounds to start a loop, you must run the course. Other than restroom stop, you are not allowed to leave the course. (this means no returning to your personal items, chair, crew etc. once a loop starts). Any crew must stay in the start/finish area.
- No personal aid during a loop. Once the loop starts, you're not allowed to grab anything new or drop off anything you decide you don't want anymore
- Each loop must be completed within an hour to be counted... including the final lap
- No artificial aids (e.g. trekking poles)
- Slower runners must allow passes
- The winner is the last individual to complete a loop. (If no runner can complete one more loop than anyone else, there is no winner.) All others are technically DNF, however results for all participants (distance covered) will be given.
You can pick up your race shirt and bib either…
Friday - 3-6pm we will be hanging out at RunningLane so you can pick up your bib and not have to deal with getting it on race morning.
RunningLane is a great locally owned running store with everything you might need for the event and super knowledgeable staff. (plus they are awesome and sponsor the race)
Saturday - 6-7am at the race site - start/finish
Absolutely! However we take no responsibilty for them actually getting you your stuff.
As long as we still have space in the race you can register up until the bell rings on race day. Shirts sizes will obviously be limited at that point so keep that in mind.
Race will start promptly at 7:00AM on Saturday morning. You MUST be in the start corral at that time. No Late Starts!

You can set up your personal area for your “stuff” close to the start / finish line starting at 5:00am Saturday morning.

REMEMBER, you can only access your stuff after you've completed a loop. Once the next loop starts you are not allow any personal aid (but yes, the race provided aid station is available)
Yes they are, however we do discourage their use and/or suggest that only one earbud be used at a time so you can be aware of those around you. Much of the course is single track trail and you are required to allow others to pass.
Yes, We will have a Port-o-Jon or two in the start / finish area for your bathroom needs. Obviously there are plenty of woods around as well, however please be respectful of those around you. In particular at night, avoid using any areas near any of the houses on the road.
Every participant will receive their shirt at packet pickup and the coveted DNF Truckers Cap along with a special gift when they finish their race, noting their effort at the Devils Race Track. If we have a winner we'll have a little something extra for them to line their pockets with.
Any runner that achieves 100 miles will receive a sweet belt buckle to add to (or start) their collection!
We will be doing our best to record your split times for each loop in (somewhat) real time and be trying to push them to the RunSignup registration site. Lap times do not always show up properly on the site but hopefully it will at lease be clear for those at home to know who's still in. Lap times will be cleaned up and published after the event is over.
We will provide the winners information for recording to Laz and also any results over 24 hours will be provided for inclusion in the At-Large List for the Championships at Big Dog’s Backyard. https://bigsbackyardultra.com/world-rankings/
Overall results will be recorded as official distance covered (laps completed * 4.167) on Ultrasignup, on RunSignup and on our website (www.fringerunning.com)
