OPEN WATER PRACTICE INFO
2026 DFW OPEN WATER SWIM SERIES
You will get a coached and kayak supported group swim practice. Swim Course is set with buoys to simulate race experience. You don’t have to be a member to join our open water swims, you just have to register. (note: there is an entry fee to enter State Park)
Supported open water swim workouts on ~ 750m swim Course. The water is going to be chilly February – May (starts at ~55 degrees in February…warms from there) so bring your wetsuit and check out Coach Frank’s Cold Water Swim tips here on this page.
June – October water temps will typically become too warm for a wetsuit. All OWS workouts supported by Kayak Power.
Swim course stays open for 1hr 15min. You may get in as many loops as preferred during this time frame.
If you plan to join the transition bike ride immediately after the swim, have your bike gear ready before entering the water. 15′ is allowed between swim and bike. February 21st swim will nbot have an organized bike ride – insteasd we offer a practice tri. (optional)
