Course Description
Swim:
The swim portion will be a 750 meter ocean swim. Participants will swim out 50 meters, then turn parallel to the shore and swim with the current for 650 meters prior to swimming back into shore. The swim will be from North to South, in the event the current is moving from South to North (swimming against the current) the swim will be shortened so athletes are in the water for approximately the same amount of time. The transition area is located just on the other side of the boardwalk and baby pools will be provided for rinsing the sand off your feet.
Bike:
The bike is an out and back ride which is nearly completely flat. There is one hill which is the bridge off of Tybee Island. One mile after the bridge, participants will turn right into Fort Pulaski State Park, do a loop around the park and then head back to transition. The bike is full of beautiful marsh-scapes and coastal birds. The bike should prove to be VERY fast.
Run:
The run course will be an out and back in the neighborhoods around Tybee Island. Participants will find aid stations at miles .75, 1.5 and 2.25. The course is completely flat and very fast.
