Description

The Midway Volksmarch is the perfect kick-off to the beautiful fall season.  Join us for the inaugural Midway Volksmarch and earn your first stocknagel (pronounced shtewknaygl, also known as a walking stick medallion)!  Volksmarching is a European tradition that involves people of all ages in a fun, non-competitive 5k or 10k walk to bring people together and celebrate what makes their town unique.  We are bringing this tradition to our Midway Swiss Mountain Village and plan to make it a fun annual fall event.  Midway's Volksmarch will take walkers past historic homes, barns, unique geologic features as well as our quaint businesses on Main Street, to the top of our iconic Memorial Hill and back to Midway Town Square for a festive fall party with music, booths,  activities, and games.  This year the event will honor local artist, Robert Duncan, and celebrate his paintings which have captured the essence of rural Midway, which we are striving to preserve for future generations.  There will be cow bells, walking sticks, Robert Duncan posters and more for sale at the event or pre-order when you register.  Local businesses plan to offer participants special discounts on meals and retail items.   Proceeds from the Volksmarch will  expand trails and preserve and protect Midway's priceless rural spaces. Walk with us to make this possible.

**There is also a historical mile walk for those who may need a shorter route on paved roads.

**Your registration includes a stocknagel (walking stick medallion) and the opportunity to help preserve Midway's open space and trails.

EVENT DAY

CHECK-IN BEGINS at 8:30 am.

A huge thank you to all our awesome sponsors!  Without their support, this Volksmarch would not be possible.  Stop in and visit them!
