5k Charity Run at Wheeler Farm to support 25 year old Ashley Irvin who has recently received a Heart Transplant.  We also want to raise awareness and support all types of organ donors and donor recipients.

Ashley's story:
In 2009, Ashley aka "Skwig", was just about to return to Idaho State University for summer soccer training but she was having a difficult time breathing. A chest x-ray revealed that she had an enlarged heart.  After a couple of tests she was diagnosed with idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy. Six months later, doctors implanted a Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Device on her heart. Then in 2013 Ashley suffered a major stroke.  She recovered well, took on a full schedule of school and graduated as a Physical Therapist Assistant. After graduation,  she became very symptomatic. In 2014 she had open heart surgery and recieved a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD).  At that time she was listed on the Heart Transplant List. After 4 months on the list she graciously received her new heart. Ashley will be 7 months post transplant at the time of the 5k and plans to run with all of her supporters.

As you can imagine, Ashley's journey has been nothing short of a financial burden on her, her husband and the rest of her family. All proceeds from the race will be donated to help with hospital bills, medication costs and donor awarness.
