Description

"In Their Shoes", a 5K run/walk to benefit Iraq's most vulnerable children, its orphans, street children and kids fleeing ISIS, is being held in Alexandria on Saturday May 14th. beginning at 8 AM, from the US Trademark and Patent Office at 600 Dulany Street, Old Town Alexandria, VA 22314. The race course is USTAF certified and the race will be timed. The Iraqi Children Foundation (ICF) is hosting the event. Funds raised through the 5K are invested in emotional care for traumatized children, access to education for children displaced by violence, providing nutrition and health care, legal aid, and more. 

Now is the perfect time to register, as early bird registration is open for individuals at $30 per person, and for teams of four or more at $25 per person, until March 31st.  On April 1st rates increase to $35 per person and $30 per person for teams. After the race, ICF is hosting a celebration featuring Iraqi food, music and an array of entertaining activities to give participants a chance to experience some aspects of Iraqi culture firsthand.

ICF's leadership includes Americans who served in Iraq, Iraqi-Americans, Iraq's former Ambassador to the US and the President/CEO of The Children's Village. All board members and US personnel are non-salaried volunteers. The mission of ICF is to assist the families and communities of Iraq by mobilizing a life changing Surge of Love for these desperately poor and at risk children.
