Pacers Running continues to closely monitor the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time, the PNC Parkway Classic 5K and 10 Mile in-person events are still on with some notable changes. The event will now occur over two days: The 5K will take place on Saturday, November 7 and the 10M will take place on Sunday, November 8. We are working on modifications in order to safely host the event on these dates. Everything from course changes to segmented start times to new bib pickup policies will be in effect to maintain socially distance guidelines. We promise you that our entire team is working extremely hard to make sure you have a race to run - even if it looks different than what we are all used to!

2020 PEACE OF MIND
Things are different, and they are constantly changing. We want to make sure that you have options to do what is best for you, your family, and your fitness. We are offering the following options:

Run the event on a measured, marked course. At this time we know this event will start and end in the city of Alexandria and will no longer start at Mt. Vernon. You've put in the miles and the hours to train, and we are working to provide you a physical race to run. It is our goal to provide you with a measured and marked 5K and 10 Mile courses that are accurate and safe. Depending on how guidelines and safety concerns continue to evolve, race day may not look how it always has, but we want to make it feel like a race, and we are diligently working through multiple scenarios to ensure a safe race experience for you. In conjunction with our municipality partners we will be limiting our field sizes and offering multiple start times throughout the morning. As of today we have limited new registration spots available (simply close this notification box to register.) To run the event in person, there is no action required, and you may close this notification box.

Complete your race virtually any time during the month of November. If you are unable to participate in the 5K on Saturday November 7 or the 10 Mile on Sunday November 8, you will have the opportunity to participate virtually any time during the month of November, wherever you feel comfortable. Complete the distance for which you have registered, and you’ll get all the swag and be provided with a link to post your virtual results.

Defer your registration to 2021 or 2022 at no cost. You may defer your registration to 2021 or 2022 (April 25, 2021 and April 24, 2022). You may only defer to and from the same event/distance. No deferral fees will be assessed. Deferred registrations may not be transferred to another person.

Trade the value of your registration fee for Pacers Retail Credit. Pacers retail stores are open and our online store is fully stocked! Use your registration fee to buy a new pair of shoes, or some sweet gear, if racing just isn't in the cards for you this year. Retail credits are not transferable.

If you would like to participate the weekend of November 7-8, 2020 there is no action required. Your registration will remain active and we will keep you updated with any new information as it arises. In the event that the weekend will not be possible, all registrants will be notified no later than October 25th. At that time, registrants will be given the choice to participate in the Virtual PNC Parkway Classic, defer to either 2021 or 2022, or trade your entry fee for Pacers retail store credit.

If you do not wish to participate the weekend of November 7-8, 2020 please choose an alternate option below. Select your option, click on "Continue" and you will be asked to sign into RunSignup to verify your selection. NOTE: if you choose to defer or transfer, you must select your option FIRST in the online form and then complete the steps to process your transfer or deferral through your RunSignup profile (if you have any trouble, please email events@runpacers.com)

The deadline to make your decision is September 30th. There is no deadline to transfer into the virtual event, please just update your registration. All registrants who do not make a decision by the deadline will automatically stay as active registrants in the November event.

The Kid’s Dash will no longer be taking place in 2020. Anyone who was previously signed up for this race will be automatically refunded no later than July 31st. Thank you for your support as we look forward to hosting the Kid’s Dash in 2021.

The PNC Parkway Classic 10 Mile event is a point-to-point race. Because of the unique nature of this race, it is highly recommended that you read through all of the transportation options below thoroughly to determine the best option for you. You can also view and print the Race Day Athlete Guide to have the transportation details at hand as you plan your day. Please note that we ask you to supply information regarding your intended mode of transportation during registration for planning purposes.

New in 2020: the 5K event now starts and finishes at Oronoco Bay Park in Old Town, Alexandria and therefore no longer needing to bus.

 

All the 2020 EARLY START Slots have been reserved. Registration for the 10-miler is still available; however, participants will be starting in the regular start wave and will be subject to the course cutoff times (15 minute pace with a 15 minute buffer): Mile 1: 8:30am ; Mile 2: 8:45am; Mile 3: 9:00am; Mile 4: 9:15am; Mile 5: 9:30am; Mile 6: 9:45am; Mile 7: 10:00am; Mile 8: 10:15am; Mile 9: 10:30am; Finish 10:45am.

There is no race day packet pick up for Parkway Classic. Please pick up your packet at one of the locations noted on the main web pages on the dates listed. 

A runner may pick up a packet for someone else. Please be sure that all runners involved know their packets are being collected as duplicates cannot be issued.
For courtesy reasons we limit pick up to one plus five – your own packet plus 5 for family and friends.  GROUPS – the same limits apply, your own plus 5. For any other request/plan contact our customer service team at events@runpacers.com to make advance accommodations.

PREMAIL PACKETS
Up through March 15, 2020, you may purchase a pre-mail packet opportunity as you complete your registration.  Be sure to provide the correct and full mailing address for your packet.

 

Team Competition

The Parkway Classic offers two team opportunities.
For 10 Mile runners, there is a team competition as All Male, All Female or Coed Teams.  Awards are detailed on the main web pages. 
For 5K, there is a social coed team opportunity to join with family, friends, co-workers to join together and motivate and inspire each other to the finish line.

For either - if you are the first to register, you will become the Captain and create the team name.  Provide that team name to your teammates and direct them to use the Join a Team choice.  Captains can review the RunSignUp help screens to learn how to use of the great team admin tools -- invite a runner, check the roster ....

 

Event Premium Selection

The PNC Parkway Classic offers a premium items for 10M and 5K registrants.  You can select from:

  • a 2020 commemorative PNC Parkway Classic tech tee
  • $10 Pacers Retail Bucks to use towards retail product in our stores; or
  • $5 donation to one of our event beneficiaries, the Boys and Girls Club of Alexandria or Rebuilding Together Alexandria/DC.

All finishers receive finisher medals for all distances. Please note that registered Kid's Dash participants do not receive a premium option but do receive a finisher medal onsite.
