12th Annual IRON 5k Run / Walk & 1 Mile Youth Run

2024 COURSE:
Race day HQ and is at our traditional location, Amherst County High School. The starting line will be on South Main Street at the entrance to the high school. 5K participants will follow an out and back course on South Main Street towards downtown Amherst and retrace their steps to a finish line located on the AHS track. The Youth 1 Mile Fun Run (not timed) is located on the Amherst County High School track and begins at the conclusion of the 5k (approximately 4pm).

Event Description:
The Iron 5K run/walk, presented by Iron Lives. This event will benefit Iron Lives youth programming throughout Central Virginia and is in collaboration with the Show Up Amherst initiative. Show Up for your community, your family, and yourself as you participate in the IRON 5k Run/Walk. 

Date & Time:
IRON 5k, Sunday, May 5, 2024. Start time is 3:00PM.
Youth 1 Mile, Sunday May 5, 2024. Start time is 4:00PM.

Location:
Race start and finish is located at Amherst County High School, 139 Lancer Lane, Amherst, VA  24521

Course: 
A 3.1 mile, road course with rolling hills on the streets of the town of Amherst out and back on South Main Street.

Prices:
IRON 5k: $30 ($35 after 4/1) (Packet Pickups/Race Day $40)
IRON 5k (12 & under): $15.00*  (Packet Pickups/Race Day $20)
*does not include a t-shirt, t-shirts for 12 & under registrations can be purchased for $10.

YOUTH 1 MILE Fun RUN (not timed):  $15, run on ACHS track 4:00pm

NEW FOR 2024 - FAMILY PRICING
Immediate family, 4 or more, registering at the same time receive a discount of $5.00 per entry. To qualify for family pricing, family participants must register together (one transaction) and be immediate family.  Family pricing cannot be accommodated retroactively. Family pricing ends Saturday May 4, 2024.

Lynchburg Road Runners Club Member Discount:  A $5.00 discount is available to current Lynchburg Road Runners Club members registering for the 5K. Discounts will not be given after April 15th. Participant membership must be current with LRRC membership roster found on RunSignUp. Discount will be given at checkout automatically. Refunds and discounts will not be given after completing online race registration. This discount does not apply to 5K 12 & Under pricing or our Youth Mile.

Timing:
Timing services will be provided by Riverside Runners. State-of-the-art, electronic, MyLaps bib timing will be used. Please wear your number on the front of your shirt or shorts and have it visible through-out the event.
Results will be posted on riversiderunners.com and RunSignUp.com.

Awards:
5k:
Finisher Medals to all finishers. 
Top 2 Overall M&F, Top 2 Master M&F (40+ yrs.), Top 2 M&F in each age group (12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-99)
Chip Time (Net Time) will be used to determine placing in all award categories.
Top TEAM (IRON Business, IRON Church, IRON School)

Team Competition:
Team registration will close on Saturday May 4, 2024 at 6:00 PM. Total number of team members is unlimited. Top 5 on each team score. Ranking will be based on cumulative time of scoring team members. An individual may only compete on one team. There are 3 team categories; IRON Business, IRON Church, and IRON School. Participants should select their team category and then select/enter their team name.

T-shirts:
Guaranteed for those participants who pre-register, online by Monday, April 1st (no joke). A limited number of extra t-shirts are available for those who register after the Monday April 1st. deadline. They will be available on a first-come basis at packet pickup.

Strollers & Pets
Strollers are allowed for this event. Please make sure your stroller is in good working condition (ie. hand brake, tether, proper tire inflation, etc..). Pets are not allowed to participate. Please leave your dog and other pets at home.
