Start the New Year off on the right foot! Join us for the fourth running of the New Day * New Year 5k/10K on Friday, January 1, 2021.
Take advantage of the opportunity to celebrate the first new day of the New Year with a run/walk at our in-person 5k or run virtually with our virtual 5k, 10k, and Out with the Old /In With the New 5k/10k challenge.
Live in-person 10k will start at 9:30 AM while the live in-person 5k will start at 9:40 AM from House 6 Brewing Company in Ashburn, VA.
Choose to participate in our virtual 5k, 10k, and Out with the Old/In with the New 5k/10k Challenge options anytime Thursday, Dec. 31 starting at 8 AM through Sunday, Jan. 31 by 11:59 PM. (timeframe has been extended!)
We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the New Day of the New Year than with a weekend full of running!
Note: For the safety of all during these COVID 19 times we will practice safe, physical distancing as well as have mask available for wearing during non running times.
Plan to stick around after the race for post race beer and/or breakfast. Breakfast can include a House 6 Brewing specialty beer on tap and breakfast from our food truck. Cost of each items can be added to your online registration. Tickets made available on race day when picking up bib. (Breakfast ad ons are for in-person participants only)

Packet pick up for live in-person runners:
- Race day, Jan 1, 2021 beginning at 8:30 AM to the rear of House 6 Brewing Company
- We will have mask available. We ask that you keep the safety of our staff, volunteers, and fellow runners in mind and be prepared to wear your mask when picking up your bib.
- You will be picking up your bib only, your swag will be available for pick up at the finish line.
- Packet pick up will be outdoors, under a tent in the back of House 6 Brewing Company.
- Race day registration will be conducted via your smart phone, no race day registration forms will be available.
Note: Virtual runners will have their swag mailed to the address provided when registering. Swag will start to ship Dec. 15. to those registered by Dec. 11, those registered after Dec 11, swag will ship the week of Jan.4, those registered after Jan. 4, swag will ship the week of Jan. 31.
Swag for in person participants will not be shipped, must be picked up at the finish line.
LIVE & in-person race will be timed with state of the art technology by Racine MultiSports Timing.
PLUS RaceJoy will be available for both our live in-person races as well as our virtual races! Use this free app to allow your friends to track you, send you cheers, and to have mile splits and other in app entertainment while running your race!
Awards will be given to the overall male and female, second place overall male and female, as well as the top two male and female winners in each 10 year age group for the in person event for both the 5k & 10k races.
Safety is our utmost priority. With this in mind in lieu of an awards ceremony, we will post results to our website as finishers complete the race(s), post overall winners and age group winners to our social media and be sure to mail awards, within 10 days after the event, to our well deserved winners to the address provided when registering.

Rotary Club of Leesburg's Perry Winston Memorial Scholarship Fund
For the 4th year, we are happy to partner with the Rotary Club of Leesburg. The Rotary Club of Leesburg Perry Winston Scholarship is an annual scholarship awarded to high school seniors who have been accepted to an accredited college/ university or community college. Each year, two scholarships in the amount of $10,000 each are awarded along with a Pathways scholarship and a Monroe Tech scholarship.
Volunteers are needed to help us out in the following areas. You will be assigned to what interest you the most, however we do ask for some flexibility! All volunteers will receive one of our signature vintage blankets as our way of saying Thank you!
-Hand out runner bibs to participating runners before the race
-Hand out swag/snack bags to runners once they have completed the race
-Direct runners through certain areas of the course
-Monitor the start line area
Please note: Volunteers will be asked to wear a face covering and gloves as an added precaution. Both face coverings and gloves will be provided by the event.
Safety for our runners, volunteers and staff is our utmost priority. We are working to bring you back to the live & in-person world of racing with the New Day * New Year Races and we are excited for the opportunity!
We have every intention of seeing you New Year's Day! Please keep in mind, we must reach a minimum of 250 runners. Without 250 runners we will be forced to look at other options for those registered.
We are working with the venue, local authorities, and the community on producing a safe live/in person event. Any necessary updates on the COVID-19 status will be communicated with registered participants via email, and regularly updated on our website.
