The Peaks of Otter Christmas Classic 5k is celebrating 38 years! Join runners and walkers of all ages and abilities for this central Virginia holiday tradition. Children are also invited to participate in the "Peaks Junior" 1 Mile and 1/4 Mile fun run. Proceeds support the Bedford Area YMCA. This event is known for its friendly faces, caroling volunteers, and fun post-race celebration. The Town of Bedford Christmas Parade is traditionally held just after the event.
5K: $20 (9/11-11/1) $25 (11/2-11/29) || $25 Packet Pickup & Race Day (11/30--12/1)
1 Mile "Junior Peaks": $12 (9/1-11/24) || $15 (11/25 - 12/1)
1/4 Fun Run: $2.00(9/1-11/24) || $5.00 (11/25 - 12/1)

Registration fees are non-tranferable & non-refundable. An entry can only be used for the person registered for the entry. Entries cannot be deferred to the following year or a future event.
World famous, long sleeve, 100% cotton t-shirts are available to those registered for the 5k and 1 Mile events by November 15th. After November 15th, t-shirts will be available at packet pickup on a first come basis. There is not a t-shirt for the 1/4 mile fun run.

We are pleased to provide an opportunity for assisted participants to enjoy race day. An assisted participant is typically being pushed in a stroller "appropriate" for the event (ie.. hand break, tether, appropriate wheels). Both the participant being pushed and the pusher are required to register for this event. Assisted participants will start prior to the 5K start and be ranked separately from the 5k event.
Top 4 Overall M/F, Top Overall Masters M/F, Top 3 in each age group. Overall awards ranked on "gun" time / Age group results ranked on "chip" time.
"Top of the Hill Challenge" $50 to the first male and female to reach the top of the "hill" (located approx. 1.5 miles from the start)
*This is a Chip timed event, Disposable MyLaps Race Bib Technology will be used.
Individuals have the option during registration to register as a team by selecting "I am on a team". Once selected, a team name is entered. A minimum of 5, regardless of gender, comprise a team. Teams are scored on time. It is important for each individual to enter the same "Team Name" to be on the same team. Awards will be given to the top 3 teams based on the lowest cumulative time of the 5 team members.
Festive, specialty, wooden ornament medals for age group awards
12 & under, 13-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & up. Age Group ranking based on "chip" time.
The "infamous" Bedford Loop is the couse for this annual event. Runners start and finish at Bedford Middle School. Surface is paved on neighborhood streets with rolling hills.
100% of the proceeds raised will go for scholarships to low and fixed income families, seniors and individuals which enables them to join the YMCA’s Health & Wellness and Childcare programs.
