Buckle Up for the Challenge – Walk, Run, Roll, or Gallop for the Chincoteague Pony Centre!
Join our 100-Mile Virtual Challenge and make every step, stride, or gallop count toward preserving a cherished part of our island’s heritage! Whether you walk, run, roll, or gallop your way to 100 miles, you’ll be helping to sustain the Chincoteague Pony Centre’s mission of stewardship, education, and care for our beloved ponies. Less than a mile a day is very achievable as you have a full year from when you sign up to log your miles!
$5 from every registration and 100% of all donations, will support the Chincoteague Pony Centre (CPC). Funds will support stewardship initiatives, educational programming and ongoing pony care.
Complete the challenge and earn your “Buckle Up for the Challenge” custom belt buckle — a unique, wearable symbol of accomplishment, pride, and heritage. It represents more than just miles completed; it’s a connection to a community that values equestrian history, responsibility, and the shared joy of preserving this treasured part of our island story. The pony featured on the buckle honors the legacy of Misty’s Snowdrop, a great-great-great granddaughter of Misty of Chincoteague. Belt Buckle medals can be shipped anywhere in the USA or picked up at the Chincoteague Pony Centre.
So lace up, saddle up, or roll out — every mile makes an impact. Together, we can stride forward with pride and purpose, keeping the Chincoteague Pony Centre’s legacy alive for generations to come.

You choose the timeframe! The challenge can be completed incrementally, in whatever mix of activities you choose, as long as the total adds up to 100 miles over your chosen timeframe. Walk 1 mile, run a 5k, gallop 3 miles, bike for 10 miles- you decide!
To print off your finisher certificate for a virtual race on RunSignUp, follow these steps:
- Log in to your RunSignUp account.
- Navigate to the "Profile" section.
- Select "My Races" to find your virtual race.
- Click on the race name to access the race details.
- Look for the "Finisher Certificate" option and click on it.
- Download or print the certificate directly from the page.
You can pick up your belt buckle at the Chincoteague Pony Centre during their regular store hours. We will have you sign to confirm that you have picked up your package containing your medal. We will also be holding a number of live events that will be announced on Facebook where you can pick up your medals.
To print off your digital bib for a virtual run on RunSignUp, follow these steps:
- Log in to your RunSignUp account.
- Navigate to the "Profile" section.
- Select the "Upcoming Races" tab.
- Find your virtual race and click on it.
- Look for the option to "Print Bib" or "Download Bib."
- Follow the prompts to print your bib directly from your device.
