RACE DESCRIPTION: This year, Boys Home of Virginia is excited to offer a fun run, 5K, 10K, and half-marathon! Children 10 and under may run the 5K or 10K for free.
All races start and end at the Intervale Trailhead of the Jackson River Scenic Trail, in Covington, VA. The USATF-certified course has a smooth crushed gravel surface and is mostly flat, with some small hills. The course follows an old railroad bed of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad, winding along the Jackson River through the scenic Alleghany Highlands.
You are welcome to run or walk at your own pace; please be aware that aid stations will close at noon.
Friday, November 1, Boys Home of Virginia (414 Boys Home Rd., Covington, VA) from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, Intervale Trailhead (1903 Dressler Dr., Covington, VA) from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m.
AWARDS: 30 minutes after the top 3 male and top 3 female runners finish each event, the awards ceremony for that event will be held at the start/finish site.
The top three male and female finishers in each age group of each race will receive an award. Our age groups are: 11-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69, and 70+. All registrants will receive a race T-shirt; all finishers will receive a finisher's medal.

Proceeds from the race will benefit Boys Home of Virginia, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing education, housing, and basic living expenses for young men whose lives have been negatively impacted by poverty or family instability. More about Boys Home here.
