RACE DESCRIPTION: Boys Home of Virginia is excited to host our 5th Annual Boys Home Harvest Hustle 5K, 10K, and half-marathon! Each year this event has grown and Boys Home is ready to celebrate the Harvest Hustle's 5th anniversary with the biggest turnout yet!
Friday, November 5th - Drive-thru packet pick-up will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Boys Home of Virginia - Administration Building, 414 Boys Home Road, Covington, VA 24426.
Saturday, November 6th - packet pick-up and late registrations will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the race site - 1903 Dressler Drive, Covington, VA 24426.
All races start and end at the Intervale Trailhead of the Jackson River Scenic Trail, in Covington, VA. The USATF-certified course has a smooth crushed gravel surface and is mostly flat, with some small hills. The course follows an old railroad bed of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad, winding along the Jackson River through the scenic Alleghany Highlands. You are welcome to run or walk at your own pace; please be aware that aid stations will close at noon.
Awards for each race will begin approximately 30 minutes after the top three men and women racers cross the finish line. Top finishers male and female overall and top three male and female in each age category will receive awards. Our age categories are: Under 12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
Boys Home Harvest Hustle COVID-19 & Safety Precautions
All volunteers will be equipped with gloves & masks. Multiple sets of gloves will be used throughout the day to avoid the spreading of germs.
Packet Pick-up tables - All 3 tables will have hand sanitizer, volunteers will have masks and gloves and social distancing guidelines will be followed. All packets will be put together by event staff wearing gloves and masks prior to race day.
Physically Distanced Starts - Each race will be at 15-minute intervals. Racers will be lined up 6 feet apart and staggered down the length of the parking lot. Timing chips will not activate until you cross the starting line. Half-Marathon will begin at 9:30 a.m. - 10K will begin at 9:45 a.m. - 5K will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Water Stations - Each will be stocked with hand sanitizer, mini bottled water and Gatorade.
Pre- & Post-Race Snacks/Drinks - Prepackaged snacks, apples, bananas , mini bottled water and Gatorade will be available. Hand sanitizer will also be available.
EMS will be on site.

Proceeds from the race will benefit Boys Home of Virginia, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing education, housing, and basic living expenses for young men whose lives have been negatively impacted by poverty or family instability. More about Boys Home here.
