Description
Join us for our 2026 Culpeper Law Enforcement Torch Run! Every dollar goes to Special Olympics Virginia!
The Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics began in 1981 in Kansas when Wichita Police Chief Richard LaMunyon saw an urgent need to raise funds and increase awareness for Special Olympics. Chief LaMunyon created the Torch Run as a way to involve his officers in the community by running a torch relay for their local Special Olympics.
More than 40 years later, 97,000+ law enforcement officers from around the world are involved and have raised more than $1 billion to support community-based sport programs for people with intellectual disabilities!

Runners will remain on the hard surface, running towards the Daughters of the Revolution nature trail and leave the park there. They will take the connector trail towards Lake Pelham until the dam. There, runners will turn around and reverse course briefly. They will re-enter the park using the same trail and turn right to continue along the hard path in the park. They will finish the loop.
The fun run will begin at the skating park side of the N. Blue Ridge parking lot, and will run counterclockwise back to the start/finish for the main race. Kids can meet at the start/finish prior to the race and will be escorted over the bridge from the Garner St. parking lot to begin.
