Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter PetDash Virtual 5K

We are celebrating National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day with a virtual 5K - April 30 - May 8.  Join us and help raise funds for Shelter pets! 

What are we doing: In recognition of National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter (Friends) is hosting a Virtual 5K Run/Walk or any other activity that achieves 3.2 miles on a date and time of your choosing between April 30 and May 8. Our Virtual 5K allows you to participate at your own pace, in your own time and your home, neighborhood or on your favorite trails. This is a family-friendly activity, pets welcome event that allows you to help raise funds for the Fairfax County Animal Shelter (Shelter) anywhere that is safe to run or walk. ADOPT A SHELTER PET DAY ON APRIL 30TH

Kick off the start of the virtual 5K in style and join us on Saturday, April 30, at Mustang Sally Brewing Company, 14140 Parke Long Ct A-C, Chantilly, VA 20151, as we enjoy the special brew created for Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter by Mustang Sally. Limited edition and sure to be tasty! Please join us at this family friendly event, pets welcome from 1 pm – 6 pm. We’ll also have adoptable pets from the Shelter and more!  

Fundraising: You can register as an individual or as a team. Fundraising is not required for the virtual 5k, however, you can help raise more funds for the Shelter pets. There is an opportunity during registration to set up an individual fundraising platform. You can also set up individual fundraising at a later time by clicking on the donate button. IMPORTANT: "Your Fundraiser Name" is not a "Fundraising Team Name". "Fundraising Teams" are groupings of "Fundraisers" working towards a collective goal, which is why the norm for "Fundraiser Names" is usually your name.

Photos, Share on FB and Race Results: Don’t forget to share your accomplishments and photos with us! After you complete your race, please post your race photos on Friends RunSignUp Photo Page, Facebook and Instagram and use the hashtag #FriendsPetDash2022 and tag Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter in your posts. Friends RunSignUp store: Check out Friends RunSignUp store where you can purchase a Friends PetDash Virtual 5K swag bag that includes a Friends PetDash t-shirt and mesh bag, food can lid, and Friends sticker. You can also donate towards our parasite prevention and collar, tag, and leash programs. 

Pick-up for PetDash Swag Bags will be available on Saturday, April 30, at Mustang Sally Brewing, 14140 Parke Long Ct A-C, Chantilly, VA 20151, during our Charity Brew Kick-Off Party. Thereafter, PetDash Swag Bags will be available for pick-up in the lobby of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter, 4500 West Ox Rd, Fairfax, VA 22030 from May 1st to May 8th from 10:30 am – 5 pm. You will receive instructions via email once your swag bag has been placed in the lobby at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. If you would rather have your bag shipped, please select shipping at the bottom of the menu.

Save a Life Sponsor: Friends is happy to announce that we have sponsorship opportunities available for our PetDash Virtual 5K. Your sponsorship of $500 allows us to help more pets at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter each day. Individuals, organizations, and businesses who choose to become a Save A Life Sponsor will receive their logo or name on the back of our Friends PetDash T-shirt, logo or name on Friends PetDash Virtual 5K website, Friends website, Summer newsletter, and a shoutout on our Facebook page of your support for Friends PetDash Virtual 5K 2022. Additionally, Save a Life Sponsors will receive a complementary Friends PetDash swag bag, including a t-shirt. There are limited sponsorship opportunities available until April 14th, so be sure to register early!
