Come out and join us for one of the best fall half marathons and 10K race in the area- Run With WIFLE Half Marathon and 10K. Runners will complete the loop around Burke Lake. Race will take place on Sunday, September 22, 2019, on a USATF certified course around picturesque Burke Lake Park in Fairfax Station, VA., located outside of Washington, DC. All proceeds benefit the WIFLE Scholarship Fund. Course is on a mix of wooded trails with crushed stone and paved paths circling beautiful Burke Lake and Lake Mercer. Whether it is the views of the crystal blue lake or the serenity of tree lined trails, this race is truly inspiring. There will be five aid stations serving both water and sports drink every 2-3 miles. Awards will be provided to the top three male and female half marathon finishers. Race will have both male and female cut technical t-shirts, finisher medals and a post race celebration. Great prep for those fall marathons or chance for a new PR. Avoid the crowds and noisy bands. Experience the pure joy of running in the Fall in Northern Virginia.

This fund provides scholarships for 4-5 college students pursuing studies for a career in law enforcement and related fields. The future of agencies like DEA, Homeland Security, Border Patrol and National Park Police, to name a few, need qualified, dedicated men and women to protect this great nation. Packets will include your bib number, safety pins, complimentary race shirt and race information.
Please bring a print out of your registration receipt or email confirmation with a photo ID. You may pick- up a friend’s packet; simply bring a copy of your friend’s registration receipt or confirmation email with your own photo ID.

Race start location is Burke Lake Park near Shelter B.

From Route 123 North: 1-95 S toward Richmond. Merge onto VA-286 N via EXIT 166B. Take the VA-7100 N/Fairfax Co Pkwy exit. Merge onto VA-286/ Fairfax County Pkwy W. turn left onto Lee Chapel Rd. Turn right onto Ox Rd/ VA-123. The park entrance is on the left off Ox Road (Route 123). From park entrance, pass thru gate and take right at the Y. Turn right onto first road on right and follow signs to parking. Parking lot is on left side of road. Shelter B is off of right side of road across from far side of parking lot.
From Route 123 South: I-95 N toward Washington. Merge onto VA-123 N via EXIT 160B toward Occoquan/ Lake Ridge. Continue on Ox Rd/ VA-123 and the park entrance is on the left off Ox Road (Route 123). From park entrance, pass thru gate and take right at the Y. Turn right onto first road on right and follow signs to parking. Parking lot is on left side of road. Shelter B is off of right side of road across from far side of parking lot.
PARKING
Follow park signs to Shelters A and B and park in first lot on left. Park maps are available on http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/burkelakepark/
RACE DAY POLICIES AND RULES
Runners will be using Chronotrack bib tags. Bibs are to be worn on your front. No bib, no time.
To ensure runner safety, unregistered runners, bicycles, and running with strollers are prohibited on the course. Course is not closed to traffic, headphones are discouraged.
Please note: a $10 park admission fee is charged per car for non Fairfax County Residents after 8 am, spectators and supporters should plan accordingly.
There will be no bag check.
There will be water stations approximately every two miles with MVP sport beverage at miles 6, 8, 10 and 12.5, Gels at mile 8 and porta potties around miles 4 and 8.
Runners are encouraged to monitor the weather and plan accordingly. Hydrate. Race will be held rain or shine.
POST RACE PARTY
Our wonderful sponsors at Great Harvest Bread Company, Wegmans and Costco are providing the refreshments. Plan to stay and enjoy the good food and socializing with your fellow runners.
AWARDS
Awards will be presented to the Half Marathon overall male and female winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd ) and 10K overall male and female winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd). Age group winners must pick up their awards at Shelter B after the race. Awards for top three male and female finishers in each age group are: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 & over. There will be no duplication of awards. Times based on chip time.
