Hosted in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the tradition of the 43rd Annual Fodderstack 10K race begins again in the Fall of 2021. Located in beautiful Rappahannock County the 10K course follows the historic hills and valleys between the towns of Flint Hill and Washington, Virginia. Whether you’re looking for a serious race against other accomplished and proven runners, or simply challenging yourself for a morning, The Fodderstack 10K is sure to leave a lasting impression. Sign up today!

In addition to our in-person race, we are also very excited to offer a “Virtual Fodderstack 10K” this year. This is a great option for anyone not comfortable with live racing or for those not in the area but still wanting to participate and support the Rappahannock County Park (and get one of our collectable t-shirts!).

Race Details

In beautiful Rappahannock County, Virginia, the Fodderstack10k is a point-to-point race that begins at the north end of Flint Hill on Route 522 at the Packing Shed and ends at the court house in Washington, VA, via the Fodderstack Road. Click here for directions.

Parking is available either in Washington or Flint Hill.  We are planning to have bus service from Washington to the starting point of the race as with previous years, but details are still to be confirmed.

Ample parking is available at the Flint Hill Fire Department (registration area) as well as in Washington.

A bus is available to take runners back to Flint Hill after the awards ceremony at 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.

For both the in-person race and the virtual option, the awards categories will need to be determined based on registration and participation numbers.

• What is a Virtual Race?
A Virtual Race is a race you can do at any location, at your pace, either outside or on a treadmill.

• Do I need to run the actual Fodderstack 10k course?
No, the course does not need to be run. In fact, due to the roads not being closed and lack of police assistance, we request you DO NOT run the actual course

• When do I have to run the virtual race?
You will need to run your virtual 10K between September 25th and October 3rd, 2021

• How do I enter my virtual time?
Runners can either utilize RaceJoy GPS tracking or you can log in your 10k times manually

• Can I register for the virtual race and then later switch to in-person? Or vice versa?
Yes, that is possible however we’ll need a final decision by September 17, 2021

• If I do virtual, how will I receive my t-shirt and possible award
We plan to have the t-shirts available for pickup at the Rappahannock Visitor Center for locals and we’ll mail the rest to those who are out of the area. If you are local and need the shirt mailed, we can do that too.

• What happens if things get worse and the October running also has to be cancelled?
If the October running is cancelled due to Covid-19, all runners will be automatically switched to the virtual option. If runners do not want to participate in the virtual race, please let us know at that time and your registration can be deferred to the 2022 running.

• Will there be an in-person awards ceremony and after race gathering/party?
We're planning on it but we’ll have to wait and see based on provided guidelines and regulations in the time leading up to the race

• How will award categories work?
We’ll need to wait and see how registration for the in-person race progresses before determining category breakdowns.
