The series competition for this year’s Cul-de-sac 5K Series is designed to encourage competitive running and racing for place among runners in 5-year age groups over this 3-race series.
There are 32 competitive categories based on age and gender. The 5-year age groups are: 8-9, through 80+. Age group placement is based on the runner’s age on July 1, 2019.
For each 5K race, points will be awarded to all finishers in each age group. The top 9 finishers in each age group will receive points as follows:
Runners must run and finish all three 5K races to be eligible for awards based on the series competition points. The three (3) runners with the highest point totals in each 5-year age group will receive awards at the closing awards ceremony on July 15. Any point ties for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place within each age group will be resolved by assigning higher standing to the runner with the fastest time in the Cul-de-sac 5K #3 on July 15.
The top 3 runners in each age group will receive gift certificates from Lucky Road Run Shop: 1st - $30; 2nd - $20; and 3rd - $10. There will also be prizes for the top 3 male and top 3 female runners overall and the top male and top female masters runner (no double dipping).

The race director and the series competition scorer reserve the right to revise these rules in the case of race cancellation or postponement based on severe weather or for other unexpected circumstances.
The 5K (3.1 mile) course is a mostly flat, fast loop on Wyndham neighborhood streets that challenges you with 3 cul-de-sacs early in the race.
The race is run on open roads monitored by course marshals and with traffic controlled by Henrico County Police. Follow their direction and watch for car/truck traffic.
This is a road race conducted under the rules of USATF and RRCA. In consideration of the safety of all participants, the following are not allowed on the course during the race: baby joggers, baby strollers, animals (or or off leash), skateboards, inline or roller skates, and bicycles. The use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged at this race. To enjoy all that our race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, RRRC encourages a headphone-free environment during the running of the Cul-de-sac 5Ks.
Please do not warm up or cool down in the middle of the streets.
