Together We Can Make a Difference for Our Neighbors in Need!
Sponsors Donate $1 for Facility Expansion for every $1 Donated for Programs and Services that Impact Poverty
The annual SML Walk to End Poverty occurs Saturday, September 17, at Smith Mountain Lake State Park. This 5k and 10k walk or run event is organized by Lake Christian Ministries with proceeds from teams’ and individuals’ fundraising efforts supporting LCM’s programs and services aimed at helping local neighbors struggling with poverty. Local demand for crisis assistance has soared to historic levels. A prolonged pandemic, rising inflation costs, ending of government relief efforts, and the return of scheduled utility terminations and housing evictions have drastically impacted low-income families in our community. Sponsors for the SML Walk to End Poverty are offering a "30 for 30 Challenge" during Lake Christian Ministries’ 30th anniversary year of service. This challenge provides $1 for LCM’s facility expansion for every $1 donated by the community for services. The goal is to generate $30,000 for services to assist vulnerable families struggling with the economic crisis and $30,000 to expand LCM’s facilities to better serve growing community needs this year and in the years to come.
This is a great time to give when the $1 you give for LCM services creates a $1 for needed facilities that will assist a growing number of neighbors during this difficult time.
