The Autism Awareness 5k exists to increase awareness about autism; to show support for individuals with autism and their families; and to fundraise for the Organization for Autism Research (http://www.researchautism.org/)
Please join us for this special event in raising awareness and a morning of fun! This event is sponsored by Belmont Ridge Middle School and Bright Life Buddies. Bright Life Buddies is dedicated to establishing a volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships and leadership development for all students. As a result of our involvement, students become inspirational leaders and make lifelong friendships.
This event is held on school grounds for the safety of participants.

Where is the event, and how do I get there? The event will be held at Belmont Ridge Middle School 19045 Upper Belmont Place Leesburg, Va 20176
What are the parking accommodations? There will be parking on school property. We urge you to consider car-pooling, and to arrive early to find a good parking spot. There will be Loudoun County Parks & Rec. events on campus later in the morning.
How early should I arrive on event day? This is a small event, however; we are hoping for more participation this year. So please arrive early enough to park, register, use the facilities, and warm-up.
Can I run or walk with a baby jogger? Baby joggers are allowed but we ask that you start your race at the back of the pack. This race in mainly on grass so use your best judgement.
Can I run or walk with my dog? Dogs are not allowed on the property, sorry.
Can I reserve a shirt in a certain size? We make every effort to order enough shirts in each quantity. If it is important that you get a shirt in your size, please arrive early on event day.
Can I get a refund if I register but don’t run or walk?
No. we plan the race based on the number of registered participants, so once you have registered we cannot offer you a refund. If, however, you register and do not run or walk, you may still pick up your race packet and shirt and join us in the fun.
Can I run or walk with headphones or ear buds? We are not restricting the use of headphones or ear buds.
Will there be bag-check facility? There is no bag check. Please plan accordingly.
Will there be a water stop? Yes, water will be provided along the course and at the start/finish line. The water stops will be noted on the course map
Will there be restrooms? Yes, we ask all participants to use the designated restrooms within the school building.
Can I view the course before the race? You are welcome to arrive early to walk or jog the course. A course map will be available on race day.
Will there be an after-event celebration? We’ll have light refreshments and an awards ceremony, and of course, education about autism.
Where are the best locations for spectators? You can wait at the start/finish line to cheer on participants or find a spectator friendly spot on the course
How is the race timed? Participants in the Walk for the Cause and Kid’s 1k Fun Run will not be timed. Participants in the 5k Run will be timed. As participants cross finish line, the finishing time will be recorded by volunteers from Woodgrove & Dominion High School cross country staff. Awards for the top finishers will be presented after the race.
