Description
This very low-key event is run-therapy for members of our little running club.
We have a running buddy, who is insanely faster than anyone else, who was supposed to compete in a much larger one-mile event in April, but of course that event has been cancelled. What we've done is created a similar-but-different event with far less people, but still trying to give our running buddy some sense of competition as she tries to smash her one-mile goal.
To meet the goal of pushing our running friend to run as fast as possible, in addition to individual registrations, there will also be a relay option available! The relay option will not involve touching another person (details on that to follow), but will allow the rest of us to try and keep up with our favorite sprinter!
Due to real-world events, this event will obviously be much smaller in scope than a normal race (well within the national and local limits on people gathering). It will be as official-as-possible with prizes for first overall, first female, and first male competitors.
The course is entirely downhill with an elevation loss of approx 92 feet over the course of one mile along the public Washington and Old Dominion Trail. Details on where to park and the exact course will be provided via email to the competitors to make sure this doesn't get too big.
The course will be very well marked. There will be no water stops, but there will be sealed bottles of water available at the finish line and possibly sealed treats, if Costco & Wegmans aren't sold out.
