Description

Presented by Eric Morris, Realtor and resident

It seems fitting that, Richmond, VA,  the city with America's Friendliest Marathon begins it's running season with the Friendliest 5K on March 16, 2019.  As we all know, April 9th is National Unicorn Day.  We also know the only thing more magical than unicorns is the power of giving.  On April 9, 2019 we will divide the profits from this race among three charities that have a direct connection to our community; JDRF, McShin Foundation, Mustaches 4 Kids.  Let's show everyone the RounTrey magic that makes ours the funnest neighborhood this side of the James.

This is a timed race that can be taken as seriously or as lightly as the participant wishes. The route is 3.18 mi long. The route is a unicorn themed (the pictures are going to be great!) trip through a beautiful neighborhood with mildly hilly terrain that provides a little challenge.  There is no off-road track to this course. The race will take place in the streets of the neighborhood as fans cheer on the runners from their front lawns and cul-de-sac areas.  This is a very fun neighborhood with neighbors who are friends; and no better location to serve as the kickoff to a running season that culminates with the Friendliest Marathon in America.

Mission: Improving lives today and tomorrow by accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes both children and adults suddenly. It has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. There is nothing you can do to prevent it. And, at present, there is no cure.

The McShin Foundation is Virginia’s leading Peer to Peer Recovery Community Organizaton and has been remarkably effective with the method of Peer to Peer Recovery Support Services (PPRSS) which employs individuals with a Substance Use Disorder to educate, mentor, and spread the message of recovery to individuals new to recovery.
