The George Washington Parkway Classic is Alexandria’s Hometown Race, and so much more!

The Parkway route connects two of the area’s most historic spots — the steps of GW’s home at the picturesque Mount Vernon Estate, then down the tree-lined namesake parkway to another of George’s destinations  — charming Old Town, Alexandria. A taste of history included in race fee. Powdered wigs and bonnets not.

For those who want a taste of the Parkway without all the distance, the Parkway Classic also offers a 5K mini version of the course with a slice of the Parkway excitement and all of the luxury of Old Town. For youngsters, a Kids Dash of 800 yards will be held right near the finish line. The Parkway Classic offers a great after-party  — a real live beer garden courtesy of Port City Brewing — as well as multiple vendors and fun for kids.

Plus, the GW Parkway Classic makes it extra easy to get to the 10-mile starting point — providing shuttles to Mt. Vernon from multiple locations. That'll simplify the trek back to your vehicles or public transportation home once the race over. In other words, the GW Parkway Classic has thought of everything.
