FAQs

Do I need to run to participate in this event?

NO. There are plenty of other great 5Ks out there to test speed and performance. This event is all about a color crazy day with friends and family. You can run, walk, crawl, or cartwheel if you wish! We want people to celebrate their individuality because We’re All Human.

Will the run be timed?

NO. This is a fun run, designed to be an amazing morning of color, laughter, and community while raising funds to an important cause that affects us all - youth suicide prevention. You are welcome to bring your own timer if you want to check your time.

Will there be prizes?

Yes, we have a Color Run Trophy for the school team with the most participants and other fun prizes for the most creatively dressed, the most colorful person, the least colorful person etc, and we'll be doing random raffle draws based on shirt number etc.

What is included with my registration?

If you registered by Sept 17th at 5pm, you will be guaranteed a FREE short sleeved white T-shirt with this year's cool logo to wear on run day. Additional shirts will be available on a first come first served basis until we run out. We will provide water and a fuel station with bananas, pizza, other snacks etc on run day but you may want to bring extra water or other snacks should you need them. Where is packet pick up?

Packet pick up is available on:

If you can't make it on that day, we'll have your packet waiting at registration on the morning of the run. Make sure you arrive early to avoid any delays in registration.

How do I get a group registration savings?

Group registration savings means you can lower the cost of your online registration processing fee if you sign up more than one person in one transaction. A single registration processing fee is $2.50 in addition to the $30 registration fee. The higher the total of your transaction, the lower the processing fee p/person becomes:

Over $50 - 6% fee

Over $250 - 5% fee

Over $1,000 - 4% fee

What is the team discount?

School teams will get their registration fee reduced to $27.00 p/person once they have a minimum of 10 registrants on the team. Set up your team using the school team tab. On the registration page you will see an option to set up a team with a team name. The discounted price of $27 will apply once you reach 10 or more registrants. If you initially sign up less than 10 people, you can still add more runners at a later time and once you hit 10 people, all those registered on the team will receive a $3 refund.

Are there prizes for school teams?

YES, the school team with most participants will win the cool We're All Human Color Run trophy! This trophy gets passed to the winning team each year and will be inscribed with your school name for display during the current school year. Last year's winner was Woodgrove HS, the year before Stonebridge HS.  Rally your friends to sign up your team to be this year's winner!

What are corporate sponsored teams?

Businesses can sponsor their employees to run at no cost to them by creating a corporate sponsored team. A team captain needs to create the team and follow the instructions to create a code which will allow employees to register at no cost. The company is billed for the total number of registrations once registration closes.

Will there be a group savings on the day of the run?

No, registration p/person goes up to $35 on the day of the run with no discounts. We encourage you to sign up online beforehand so we can plan the run successfully based on the number of people attending .

Is The We’re All Human 5K Color Run a charity event?

YES. This is a fundraiser organized by the Ryan Bartel Foundation for their youth suicide awareness and prevention programs in Loudoun County. The Ryan Bartel Foundation is a 501.c.3 non-profit organization.

How is the color administered along the course?

There will be color stations along the course where you will see smiling faces hoping to douse you in colorful powder so you look like you ran through a beautiful rainbow by the time you cross the finish line.

Is the color powder used safe?

The color powder is a colored corn starch and is non-toxic, biodegradable, skin safe and environmentally friendly. We recommend you bring goggles or sunglasses to wear during the run to protect your eyes from the powder. Sunglasses will also be available for purchase on the day. Wearing contact lenses is not recommended.  We recommend that people with asthma do not run in order to avoid inhaling the powder.

Will the color ruin clothes or running shoes?

We suggest wearing items that you wouldn’t mind getting colorful. We also recommend wearing a white shirt if you want to get the most out of the colors which is why you will get a free, white, short-sleeved T shirt when you register by Sept 17th. Additional white branded shirts will be on sale on the day on a first come first served basis. To avoid and/or minimize stain, vigorously shake out all dry excess powder before stepping into a shower, or throwing your clothes in the wash. Once the caked dry colors get wet, it is hard to get out. However, if one can shake as much as possible out while dry, there is a good chance of not having pink hair for the next month. For those that want to stain their shirt, we will provide instructions in their run day packet.

Do you have “cleaning stations” at the finish after the run?

We will have air blown cleaning stations. With a good dusting off, you aren’t 100% clean, but you are good for the drive home. We recommend bringing plastic seat covers or towels for the drive home or better still, a change of clothes.

What type of a running course is it?

We are using the cross country course at Woodgrove High School which is on grass and flat.
