Join the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation, the Richmond Road Runners Club, and our presenting sponsors Rocketts Landing and Dominion Energy for the 10-mile or 5K races, runs, or walks on the "Capital Trail." A 52-mile dedicated multi-use trail connecting Richmond and Williamsburg along the beautiful and historic Route 5 corridor, our Virginia Capital Trail is a gem of a resource for RVA runners, walkers, and cyclists. In 2019 (the races' first year), there were 500 finishers of the two races.
All profits from the races benefit the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation programs to enhance, promote, and advocate for the continued development of the Trail. Check out VCTF's "What We Do" site for more information.
Note: Water will be provided at the race, but you must bring your own cup, bottle to fill. Thank you for supporting a sustainable future by reducing single-use cups.

Here is the race T-Shirt for this year! It has a Halloween theme since it is Halloween Eve. We had fun designing the shirt and hope you like it!
*Any registrations made by midnight on Sunday October 10th will have a t-shirt on Race Day. We will order additional shirts based on our projections, and hope to have enough for everyone. However, it is possible that if you register closer to the 30th, there will not be a shirt available on the day of the Run. If this is the case, you will have a shirt shipped to you after the event. Thank you for your understanding!*
Happy Halloween-eve! We will be holding a pre-run costume contest on the morning of October 30th!
No entry is required, you just need to be in costume and on-site at the starting line at Stone Brewing by 8:15. Our panel of judges will select winners in the following categories:
- Adult Costume
- Children's Costume
- Group Costume
- Prizes to be determined.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Where do we park?
A: Parking will be at Stone Brewery (4300 Williamsburg Ave, Richmond, VA 23231). There are two parking lots on either side of the building. Street parking nearby is also available.
Q: Is there a course time-limit?
A: Yes, the course time limit is 3.5 hours, which should ensure a finish time for anyone who can keep a 20 min per mile pace (for the 10 miler). This should allow for a brisk walking pace or faster. Both courses will officially close at 12:30pm.
Q: Will there be water/hydration provided on the course?
A: Yes! However, this will be a CUPLESS event. Please bring your own bottle, collapsable cup, or other hydration device to fill up.
Q: Can I switch from one race event to another?
A: Yes! You can edit your registration to change from the 10 miler to the 5k or vice versa up until the morning of the race.
Q: Can I run with a stroller?
A: You may NOT run with a baby stroller, but you CAN run with an approved United Athletics assisted device.
Q: Can I run with headphones?
A: Headphones are strongly discouraged as we hope to promote safety and social interaction while running on the trail.
Q: Are racing wheelchairs allowed?
A: Yes!
Q: Is the Capital Trail paved?
A: Yes!
Q: Will there be port-a-potties on the course?
A: Yes! Placement and number of rest-stops TBD.
