Who should consider signing up for WMT?

WMT will offer training for current runners who want to move up to the half marathon or marathon distance for the first time OR who have already completed one or more half or full marathons.

While we welcome runners of varied paces, WMT probably is not for runners who are training to achieve a Boston Qualifier or other qualifying time.

WMT will be geared to the following runners. A runner should consider WMT if they:

  • already is doing at least 15 miles per week of running or run/walk at 14 minutes/mile or faster pace, and
  • has done a few 5Ks and/or 10Ks, and
  • can get in runs at least 4 days per week, and
  • wants to train for and finish their first half or full marathon or their 2nd, 3rd, nth longer race, and
  • wants the support of a training group for weekly long runs.

WMT will offer a recommended training plan and weekly, supported long runs geared to each distance. While the training plans are not finalized, you can anticipate the following approach for the Saturday runs:

  • Half marathon starting at 5 miles working up to 11-13 miles (or maximum of 2 hours on your feet)
  • Marathon starting at 6 miles working up to 16-20 miles (or maximum of 3 hours on your feet)
COVID-19 Precautions & Procedures

The following policies and procedures are based on current recommendations for COVID-19 safety protocols and are subject to change at any time.

  • Individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 do not need to wear a mask or other face-covering outdoors at RRRC races, training programs, or other events.
  • RRRC strongly encourages anyone who is not fully vaccinated to wear a mask when they are not actively running/walking during an RRRC race or training program, especially when they cannot maintain 6 feet distance from other individuals (e.g., check-in, starting corral, finish area).
  • If you are fully vaccinated but still want to take precautions when around others, RRRC fully supports you in wearing your face covering at any RRRC event.

Participants at increased risk for COVID-19. Per CDC guidelines the following groups are considered to be at a higher risk for contracting COVID-19. If any of these apply to you, we ask that you take the increased risk into consideration before registering or signing up to volunteer:

These precautions are subject to change at any time and we appreciate your flexibility as we put on races during the time of COVID-19.
