The James River Park trails will give local mountain bikers and visiting riders alike a chance to test their skills. The rock gardens, short steep climbs, creek crossings, fast downhills, and twisty single-track trails are both technically challenging and physically demanding. Riders will complete stages at Dogwood Dell, Forest Hill Park, and Belle Isle for a total of 6-8 timed miles. The transition stages (the riding required to get from one stage to the next) are not timed and do not count toward standings. Pedal hard when it counts and take it easy on the in-betweens.
You must start at Dogwood Dell and start any time between 10 AM-12 PM. You must also complete each trail loop in the order of Dogwood Dell to Forest Hill Park to Belle Isle. All racers must be finished in the Belle Isle parking lot by 3 PM.
Dominion Energy Riverrock, organized by Richmond non-profits Sports Backers & Venture Richmond, began in 2009 & is now the nation's premier outdoor sports & lifestyle festival, bringing athletes, spectators, musicians, & even dogs to Brown’s Island & Historic Tredegar for a three-day festival against the backdrop of downtown Richmond’s urban riverfront. The festival was designed to promote Richmond’s unique riverfront, downtown trails & whitewater rapids to outdoor enthusiasts. As a result of the creation of Dominion Riverrock, there is a stronger appreciation for the value of outdoor recreation throughout the entire Richmond region.
Sports Backers Venture RichmondHelp Us Maintain Our World Class Trail System
The James River Park System & the Richmond Riverfront is an extremely important asset to RVA. Please consider a donation to benefit the James River Park System & riverfront. Your gift will help maintain, improve, & enhance the JRPS trails & riverfront. This nationally acclaimed trail system would not be what it is today without the hard work of countless volunteers & it is donations like yours that make this work possible. In the past donations were able to support not only general trail maintenance through RVA More’s tireless efforts but also very specific infrastructure & equipment improvements like a donation to the universal access ramp at Huguenot Flatwater, new trail ramps, & in 2022, the replacement of all bike pumps at the bike repair stations around the Park System. The James River Park System & riverfront continues to see heavy use so donations to maintain & make improvements are important to the overall sustainability.
