Want to start the year off sun kissed with a cocktail in hand & ready to take on the world?! The Warm Up Fitness Challenge is calling your name! We can all use extra motivation to stay active right now, & the new year ahead of us is the perfect time to make your fitness goals a reality! Put together a team of up to eight people & get ready to motivate & inspire one another as you log as many active minutes as you can during the month! You’ll earn virtual badges, a beach towel, & cool swag as you virtually travel to a variety of tropical destinations. Don’t forget the SPF!

As you travel from one sunny beach to another, you will have the opportunity to earn a combination of individual & team virtual badges that will enhance your tropical experience & keep you motivated.

Active Minutes

An active minute is an intentional effort to exercise, either moderately or vigorously. This can include activities such as running, walking, hiking, cycling, yoga, a fitness class/workout, walking the dog, lifting weights, rollerblading, jumping rope, dance, swimming, kickboxing, etc.


Goal Minutes

SOLO: 700 Active Minutes

8-PERSON TEAM: 5,000 Active Minutes

Team Types





Awards will be given to the team that reaches the active minutes goal the fastest as well as to the team that logs the most minutes in a month in each of the divisions, which includes the 8-person team and solo divisions.



  • Beach Towel
  • Bottle Opener
  • Activity tracking including an individual and team progress bar and leaderboard
  • Opportunity to earn individual and team virtual badges
  • Virtual travel experience including destination fun facts and places to visit, cocktail and happy hour snack recipes, and stunning imagery of the warm, often sandy, locations you are traveling.


Our goal is to start mailing Wave 1 SWAG in early February and Wave 2 SWAG in early March. Any updates to this timeline will be posted here.



Share your unique referral link (found in your confirmation email)! You can share the link via email, social media, or text. Remind them to use your link to score all the rewards! To be counted towards your referrals, they must register using your unique link.



Track your active minutes using any type of watch, app, or manually, then log them into the event’s site which will update the leaderboard and earn a combination of individual and team virtual badges. Earn as many active minutes as possible and watch as you and your team progresses towards your goal!

Let’s Go, RVA! Sports Backers mission is to inspire active living in all corners of our community. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to producing quality sporting events & programs that motivate residents & visitors to be more active, supporting youth running & fitness programs, & advocating for safe bike & pedestrian infrastructure. 


Due to COVID-19, we had to stop all in-person events & cancel all in-person programming in the Spring. But, our staff is hard at work bringing virtual & social distancing options to our region including virtual & outside fitness classes, virtual kids physical activity videos & classes, workout challenges, virtual events, &, most recently, socially distanced in-person events.
