Marathon Legend Meb Keflezighi is making a virtual appearance in Richmond!
Four-time Olympian and Olympic silver medalist Meb Keflezighi is addressing members of the Richmond running community by means of a closed-circuit video connection. Meb’s virtual appearance will show him on an oversize screen from his home in San Diego, California. The format allows for two-way interaction as audience members watch, listen and speak directly with Meb.
Meb will be at the 2019 Yuengling Shamrock Marathon Weekend (March 15-17) in Virginia Beach. He'll be serving as a pacer for the Anthem Shamrock Half Marathon as well as making special appearances throughout St. Patrick’s Day Weekend. For more information, click here.
Richmond Road Runners Club and Lucky Road Run Shop are partners in bringing this opportunity with Meb to Richmond. Everyone from our community of runners is welcome to attend.
The event is FREE. There is no registration or sign-up required. Just show up!
Virtual presentation starts at 7:00 PM. Doors open at 6:30 PM.
Meb Keflezighi
Known in the running community by his first name, Meb is the only athlete in history to win the New York City Marathon, the Boston Marathon and an Olympic medal. His victory at the 2014 Boston Marathon was the first by an American since 1985 and took place one year after bombs detonated at the finish line.
“Meb is an inspirational figure known around the world,” says Jeff Van Horn, owner of Lucky Road and co-host of the event. “This is the second time Meb is speaking to our community through a virtual appearance and we are honored for the chance to connect with him again.”
“I know Richmond has a vibrant running community and I am honored to have support from the runners there,” says Meb. “The last time I spoke to the runners of Richmond was April 2014, shortly before my Boston Marathon victory. That was a special time in my life and I am happy to be re-connecting with my friends and fans in Richmond.”
