Verdun Sunday Morning Race Series Cancelled

Due to lack of interest, the fall series has been cancelled.  I'm quite disappointed and a bit puzzled as to why no one signed up.  Cheap race, nice venue, friendly and informal format, late starting time so you can sleep in... what's not to love?  I don't get it.

Refunds will be issued to the few who did sign up.

Description

A few things are different for the new Fall Cross Country Series:
11:00am Start Time
4 Races (due to Thanksgiving)
Final race might not be a relay race.  We'll see how the runners feel about this.

We will race 5Ks, with the possibility of final morning relay race. Races start shortly after 11:00 AM, Sundays from Oct 24th through Nov 14th.  We'll race on variations of Verdun's beautiful Cross Country Course.  The weather should be nice and cool, and the leaves will be turning.  If we're lucky, it might even be cold.

The cost is only $6 per race if you sign up for the full series (EARLY BIRD SPECIAL: $5 per race through Sept 30).  We will get your times, but this is all for fun.  No medals, no t-shirts, just a chance to test yourself and hang out with fellow runners.  To make it more fun, we will pick teams on the spot and score it like a XC race; The sum of your team's top 5 places is your score, and low score wins.  This should take some of us back to our high school and/or college years.

Format:
We will gather at the Pavilion for instructions, I'll show you guys a couple turns that might be confusing, and then we'll start.   We start and finish at the Pavilion.  The distance is approximately 5K.  The final relay (if we do that)  will be done on a short course (less than one mile) with each runner running several times. NOTE: Your GPS numbers may vary.  The course will be well marked, with maps posted on this page so you can DL them.

Thanks, Verdun!
Verdun Adventure Bound is generously allowing us to use their great XC course at no extra charge. They are a non-profit, and all entry fees will go to them. They are being very good to me, and I love them for it!  I have virtually no expenses with this race*.  That's why the cost is so low.
Prices:
$24 to pre-reg for the full series.  NOTE: $20 through September 30!!!
After 1st Race: $20 for the remainder of the series.
After 2nd Race: $13.50 for the remainder of the series.
$7.50 to pre-reg for individual races.
$10 at the venue for individual races.
Get to know Verdun, here (spawns a new window).  It's a wonderful place for all sorts of activities. Get your company to use the place for an outdoor event. Send a kid to camp. Host a race, even!
*Water will be provided at the finish.  If we have a solid, loyal turnout, I will bring some home baked goods to the final race.
