Description

The Beer mile relay (run) will be held at Virginia's Blue Ridge Go Cross Race with Deschutes Brewery at Fallon Park on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 1:00pm.  There will be four laps, each lap is ~1/4 mile. Your team can have a minimum of two, and a maximum of four participants.

Cyclocross is an awesome spectator sport and we want to expose the Roanoke outdoor tribe to this amazing race. Immediately following the beer relay will be the elite men's and women's cyclcross races with top riders from all over the world.  Food trucks, ice cream, multiple beer gardens and viewing platforms, bike giveaways, contests with Deschutes, vendors and more will be open until 5:00pm that day, so stay and have some fun!

Prizes will be provided by RunAbout Sports and Deschutes Brewery to the top three teams and one for the team with the best costumes. This year's Go Cross race is LUAU themed!

Race briefing will take place at 12:45pm behind the beer tent & is mandatory (with ID) for all runners.

The cost of the race is only $25 PER TEAM if you register by 8/30/19 at midnight and $30 PER TEAM onsite registration (11:00am-12:30pm race day). A minimum of two racers are required per team, and a maximum of four. Four beers are included in the $25 fee, so the race is essentially free ($6/beer onsite).

This race will be held in the in-field of the course. Meet next to the Deschutes wooden bar. The race will consist of 4 laps. To make this event more fun and a team effort, participants will ALTERNATE on each lap (if less than four). 

BEER RELAY GUIDELINES:

  • ALL participants must be 21 or older
  • Participants must have proof of age and obtain an ID band from the ID tent prior to the event
  • 2 to 4 members per relay team (Minimum of 2 per team)
  • Beer must be consumed before starting each lap
  • Participants must alternate on each lap 
  • On laps 2,3, and 4 participants must be tagged by preceding teammate before beginning their lap
  • Unnecessary contact with other participants could result in disqualification (beer mile is not a contact sport)
  • Mandatory high fives to each other after completing the race
  • Most importantly have fun, laugh, and enjoy making memories with your friends

    SETTING UP TEAM
Only one person from each team needs to initially set up their team with a password and pay the one time fee. Once the team is created other team members can select that team via the drop down menu and follow through to confirm registration. Only the person setting up the team will pay the fee. 
  • Enter personal information (if you set up more than one member at time of team set up it will look like you will be charged for each participant. IGNORE. It will drop off when you go to pay. This will also show a charge if you are joining a team. Ignore. It will drop off at time on the last page when you confirm registration).
  • Create team with password (or join team if already created)
  • Sign waiver
  • Enter payment info (only if you are setting up the team)
  • Confirm Registration

EACH TEAM HAS TO HAVE AT LEAST TWO MEMBERS TO PARTICIPATE ON RACE DAY. Captains of each team will be able to add and remove members until registration ends.
