Competition Day Info:

Pre-race meeting and packet pickup at the Western Front Hotel in St. Paul, VA www.westernfronthotel.com. starting at 8am on Saturday, July 27, 2019. Packet pickup is from 8am-9am. Meeting starts at 9am. You have to show up to the meeting in order to know where to go. There will be a participant discount for those who wish to stay at this wonderful boutique hotel. Please use code APPUGH at checkout to get a discount on your stay at the Western Front Hotel.

Competition Info:

THERE ARE THREE EVENTS: BIKE, RUN, AND A CARRY

All three will be very App(ugh)lachian (if you know what that means). Participants will be scored on how they rank in each event and the winner will be the person with the most points at the end of the day.

Event #1 - 6 mile bike
Mountain, gravel, cross, or hybrid bike will do. The trail for the bike race is not technical. You won't need any special bike skills, you'll just need to show some grit. There will be bikes available to rent through Clinch Life Outfitters when you sign up if you don't have one already (shuttle included). Bikes are first come, first served. There is a separate registration on the event's main page for the bike rental if you need one.

Event #2 - 10k run
We'll see who's really App(ugh)lachian here. This race will separate the contenders from the pretenders. It will be beautiful and it will be brutal. It will also be on the Spearhead Trail Systems www.spearheadtrails.com.

Event #3 - Carry
We're calling this the "Food City 500". Some of you may have an idea what that means; but, really, that just means none of you have any idea what that means. Here's an idea: you're going to be carrying about 20lbs for a couple miles.

*There will be a built in break between events at a local establishment so that participants can recover (slightly) and enjoy some local food and drink (and music).
