Put a Cork in Cancer

Put a Cork in Cancer is a 10K (individual or team) and 1 mile fun run fundraiser for Susan Whitcher, a long time resident of Isle of Wight with a thriving business, Sparkle & Shine Cleaning, for many years… she may have you as one of her clients!  Susan has been recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Liver Cancer.  As you can imagine her family and friends are heartbroken by this diagnosis.  Things are very much up in the air right now, with many bumps in the road on the way to solidifying a chemo schedule.  All proceeds from this run/walk will be donated to help Susan and her family with the many medical expenses that are beginning to come in with no near end in sight.  

This fundraiser will be a Full Day of activities and giving on the grounds of SummerWind on Sunday, November 22nd from Noon to 6pm.  The will also include a run/walk will begin at 10:30am so you have plenty of time to finish and get ready for the rest of the fun.  We have been blessed with countless bands that have generously agreed to perform throughout the day, multiple people and businesses donating items and gift cards for a silent auction, Wharf Hill with beer and food for sale, SummerWInd with wine and food for sale, and some merchandise to be purchased, as well.  

NOTES:

-- This run/walk will be a mass start, but will be a MASKED start.  Since we are not officially timing this fun event, everyone starts at the same time. Because of this, everyone will START the event with a mask on, then remove it as the crowd thins out on the course, using appropriate social distancing standards.  We trust you as reasonable adults with ample common sense and courtesy to protect yourself and your fellow runners by maintaining a safe distance on the course.

-- We are not timing this event. This is not a Boston Qualifier ha!  We are doing a mass masked start and the first individual to cross the finish line and the first team to cross the finish line will be awarded their expertly designed trophies for their efforts.

-- Included in your registration for the 10K will be a mask, sticker, and a beer & food ticket.  Included with the 1 mile registration is the mask and the sticker.

-- This event is rain or shine, non-refundable.
