Since 1985, ANVIL has offered those striving for more an opportunity to venture into the world of Ultra Triathlon. Go beyond the Ironman distance and enter into the ANVIL family. Here you'll find small races catered to the athlete and their crew. We're endurance athletes, we get it, and we're here to help you make what once was a far stretched dream become reality.
One ANVIL is equivalent to one Ironman.There's simply no experience quite like an ANVIL.

Distances / Disciplines available at the 2024 Virginia ANVIL:
- 1/2 ANVIL | consisting of a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run completed in 17 hours.
- 1x ANVIL consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run completed in 17 hours.
- 1.5x ANVIL | consists of a 3.6 mile swim, 168 mile bike and 39.3 mile run completed in 30 hours.
- 2x ANVIL consists of a 4.8 mile swim, 224 mile bike and a 52.4 mile run completed in 36 hours.
** Relay options are available for the Double distance ANVIL.
** Duathlon or Aquavelo options are available for Single and Double ANVIL distances.

2:00pm - 3:30pm • Athlete Check-in at the village / racers can setup their pit area
5:30pm - 7:30pm • Mandatory Pre-race Pasta Dinner / Race Briefing (Double, Single, Half athletes)

6:15am • Breakfast and coffee is served in the village
6:30am • Athlete Roll Call and National Anthem. *All Double, Single, Half athletes must be present
7:00am • Swim Start Double, 1.5x, Single, Aquavelo and Half Anvil athletes (beach area)
8:00am • Race Start for Double, Single Duathlon athletes (inside village)
1:00pm • Lunch is served in the village
4:00pm • Dinner is served in the village
8:00pm • Single Aquavelo race cutoff time
10:30pm • Late Night Snack is served in the village
